to something more defined. (Before, this goal was “take more pictures”)
The thing is, I used to be a prolific digital photographer – with my first camera… a point and shoot (Olympus 350 zoom). That camera had its quirks, but I worked around them… learned to wring a good shot out of the darn thing. (I found that it was a lot better with macro, for instance… not to bother with the landscape shots.) So, after a few years of that camera, I was dying to get my hands on a camera with better picture quality and more manual control. Therefore, I splurged on the Canon EOS 20D last January. (Oh, my god – a whole year, and I have barely used it – what a waste.) Anyway… I quickly found that it comes with a whole different set of quirks… and it depresses me to use it. (I mean, when you spend that much money on a camera, you don’t expect to have to work around its flaws.) I haven’t had the heart to do much with it… I believe I’ve only gotten one or two art photos out of it. (Mostly, I’ve just been using it for documentation of progress on work, or of installations – I don’t feel comfortable enough with it to use it for art photography much.) So – that is my goal… start using the Canon for art photography.
