I got the idea for this project several months ago, but haven’t really taken off with it. I already registered my domain and designed a marketing postcard to send out to my family, but kind of stopped there. I need to practice my web design skills, so this is a great way to do it. Next on the agenda is to mail out the postcard and begin the design process. I’m hoping to launch by the end of March.

I am in the process of still inviting family members to it. There are a lot of them so it is taking some time. But I am excited to do it.
When it comes to using websites i am pretty darn efficient if I do say so myself. However, when it comes to creating one, I am not so smart. I figure if there are people out there reading this (and I know there are because I have had a few comments) then maybe just maybe one of them would spread the love a bit and direct me to some easy website that walks you through setting up your own family site…...so, any takers?

I’m wondering where to look for alternatives?
I still want to do this, but I’m pruning my list to include things that can actually be done in a reasonable amount of time. We a “43thingstodolatersometime.com” website.

I finally got around to doing this!
I set up two blogs, one for my immediate family and one for my DH’s. I really hope they’ll get in the habit of posting photos and stories about what’s up with them!
Right now I’m excited. I just put up the first posts on each of them and sent out invites. tee hee!

Several have started posting, & so far 11 of us have signed up as contributors, so more should be adding their two cents soon. So far it has been a great way to keep up with my two sisters in California, who are entertaining some relatives from Germany right now. I hope for a proliferation of photos, comments, podcasts (of which we already have one!), & general activity so that it becomes a communication hub for us. Of course it can’t happen all at once, but we’re off to a good start! Yay!

since we decided not to go to the art-show reception we’d planned to attend. Based on D.’s recommendation, I started setting up our blog, wrote the first post, chose privacy settings, & sent invitations to family members to read & post!
There’s quite a bit to do yet, but it’s a great beginning. Yay!

has interposed itself to slow us down on this: a close relative is coming from Colombia to live with us for a while! So instead of working on the website in the last month, we have spent a lot of time making sure paperwork was in hand for the visa interview; discussing, buying, & (soon) assembling a couple of needed furniture items; & talking through the timing of the trip & buying tickets.
We’re excited about the whole thing. I don’t feel at all bad that it has had to take priority over the family website. We’ll get to that too, soon. :-)
