I just recently decided to do this after taking a life and career planing class, and a lot of thinking. I’ve always enjoyed Art and psycology and it just seems like the perfect mix for me. Next semester I’ll be taking class to make shure, till then I’ve been/ will be doing a good deal of reasurch n the topic.

I finished my Masters in Counseling & Art Therapy in the summer, and walked in the Fall graduation. I just got hired as an art therapist at a therapeutic school, and I’m SO happy! It’s finally all falling into place.
I am about to study at Sheffield University (England,UK) but I also want some advice on how to market myself.
I currently work free-lance in schools yet I want to extend this to prisons, day-care centres etc.
Somebody must have done this.
I have done parts of it so I can exchange ideas also.

I job shadowed my sister yesterday. She’s a therapist. I couldn’t do it – it’s way too stressful and contains almost everything I didn’t like about my previous job.
Someday I will find something.
I don’t have an BFA, only a BS in Education so this will be difficult since it’s a Master’s program and I would need a BFA. If only I had thought things through after high school. I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do, and now I know exactly what I want and I can’t do it. Not for at least six years anyway. Anybody know a shortcut into a Master’s of Art Therapy program? :)
i am always torn between doing something useful and doing something creative. My husband is an amazing illustrator and it is still hard for him to get work. The art industry is overcrowded and very shallow so Ive decided to use it in a way that will help people that really need it. I am so excited! It will take about 5 or 6 years to get qualified but its nice having a goal rather than finishing art college and joining the saturated art industry.
there are so many things id like to do with my life. im constantly torn between doing something creative and something useful. i want to be my own boss but id be happy working for someone if i respect them and they are looking out for me. of course id like to earn loads of money but not at the cost of my happiness

whew! just got my thesis approved, and graduated on sunday from my masters in clinical art therapy and marital family therapy with a 3.95 GPA. i have never been more proud! i just signed my contract to work as a full time and swooned when i saw my job title “art therapist” and realized that i am living my dreams.
I just recieved my acceptance letter to my first choice school, Naropa University in Colorado! I’m so excited because the school fits my personality and will enrich my learnings and personal development. On my way to becoming a great art therapist. I can’t wait to move and finally study there.

“i've been looking at schools that offer degrees in art therapy that have the stamp of approval of the art therapy association. how do/did you like your schools? any reading recommendations to know if this is the right career for me?”
