MayaSolyh Roooooars!
Fun to do, but can’t keep my balance yet.
How I did it: I practiced on a wall by standing about 2 feet from it, getting in the ludge position, and pushing off my legs onto my palms. I had that down, but I needed to get my legs straight. Since I have no spotter to tell me how I'm doing. I took videos of myself doing it, and learning how it felt when my legs were straight. After I could do THAT, I moved away from the wall, and now I can do it everywhere.I recommend trying to learn this… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I joined an adult gymnastics class at a local gym. At first I could not do it AT ALL. i started out by doing yoga-type headstands against the wall, to learn how to kick up my legs. I also climbed up the wall into the handstand position and held it to build up the necessary strength. Then I began to kick up to a handstand from a lunge against the (padded) wall. Also began to practice handstand roll-outs on an … Read how I did it…
How I did it: hands down feet up that's the way i like to (handstand). And, you know, a wish and a prayer. I do not understand why there is a 150 character minimum for this explanation but the elderly, pregnant and handless should exercise caution. Read how I did it…
Six days to go, and I aim to improve my handstand to at least 15 secs.
1-While in the position of handstand, the middle portion stays in the most unstable position, and begins sort of wobbling if you retain the position for a long time, and this discontinues the handstand.
I need to make it strong, particularly the lower back. I can do a headstand (not a typical triangular headstand with hands wide apart, but the one in Yoga, where your hands remain behind your head, and support your neck), and will start practicing it for a few minutes to strengthen my back. Hopefully, it will help.
2-I need to give it more time. I practise for about 20 mins, but I realise I need to increase this time.
Good News: I was able to do a handstand twice for about 3-4 seconds today :)
All the tutorials and tips available call for a vertical support like a wall to practice a handstand. The room I live in is too small and congested and there’s no such apt place outside. So I have to practise in open ground. As a result, progress has been very slow (but not nil!).
Also, I am not regular at it (I practise once or twice a week). Still, I hope I should be able to do a good handstand by the end of October.
I have never done any gymnastics, and have never done a cartwheel. I am going to be 50 in a few months and I would like to celebrate this by doing a handstand. Where the heck do I start?
I started today (Sep.2) doing a few pushups, and also trying to kick up. Not all the way, just hands down, and get my legs up. It’s harder than I thought.
I can hold myself up and now I will fall over if there is a mat in front of me. Progress!
I can balance on my arms against the wall for 30 seconds…but as soon as I’m away from the wall I’m petrified. It doesn’t matter if there is a mat under me, I’m still scared…and the fear is just getting bigger and bigger!!!!
I’m taking an adults gymnastics class now so hopefully that will help.
I give up on the challenge to do this. I will still do it, just not in time for the challenge. I’ve secretly known it all along and have already begun my punishment of pushups.
Have done nothing in regards to this goal. Have a month to complete. Must research.

Notasyetaflyer15 asks,
“Once you've got a handstand on the wall, how do you balance and get up when your off? I had heard something about trying to keep your naval in and keeping your legs tightly together?”
