sierrak wishing everyone a Very Happy Thanksgiving
Well over the weekend I finally got a chance to get started on the “Ravenclaw” scarf .(The picture of the scarf is shows in my last entry). I’ve gotten a few inches done so far, about one-third of the way through the letter “R”.
The technique is pretty simple…..basically the entire scarf is done in garter stitch (knit every row) except where the want the design to be, then it’s a reverse stockinette stitch on the right side of the item. The scarf is going to look pretty neat when it’s finished.
We are going on a car trip next weekend, about 11 hours each way, and I figure this project will be a good one to work in in the car. Hopefully when I get back, I can post a picture of MY scarf.

I am getting closer to wanting to start on this goal, and while surfing around the Internet I found this great collection of Illusion Knitting patterns here : http://www.freshislefibers.com/Patterns/shadowknittinglinks.htm
Wow! There are so many to choose from, and I’m beginning to think I might make something different than the Alien Illusion scarf. In particular, I am very taken by this Ravenclaw Harry Potter scarf shown in the picture.
These sure look like fun projects!

I want to make the Alien Illusion Scarf in the book “Stitch and Bitch”. I just got the yarn a few days ago, I plan to make this in the same yarn used in the book, which is Brown Sheep’s NatureSpun in Spring Green and Pepper. Very cool looking scarf.
However, in deference to my desire to “finish more knitting” I’m going to finish the hat I cast on for my daughter first.
