fix up my car

1. Clean out car – has been in a garage for a while with the windows down
2. Fix driver side window
3. Get the car running again
4. New Speedometer
5. New Gas Gage
6. New Tires – has been sitting a while
7. Replace window seals – leaks when it rains
8. Paint car – to be determined (all white??)
9. Redo the inside (change from Blue to Black)
seats, roof, dash

I believe that is all for now. I love this car, have had it for about 6 years now.

changed oil, sparkplugs, got a cherrybomb glasspack exhaust installed, now just looking for headers and possibly upgrade the airfilter and maybe – maybe upgrade the sparkplug wire harness. 2 days ago passed emissions, YAYYYYY!!!!!!!

I am finding it harder than I thought to get my car painted.
It turns out that most shop only want to work on insurance jobs. It is all part of the insurance/auto shop extortion conspiracy I believe in. Don’t get me started.

I got 2 quotes for tires! Yay, they were half the price I htought they would be. I should have new tires by Friday!

I am ready to fix up my 1964 Dodge Dart. I have had it for 20 years and it is time.

makes you want to buy it, huh?

the holly tree was chopped and the car was washed and vacuumed y’day – all before noon. whew.
so, tomorrow i will call the detailing guy to see about his cost and when he can come out.
then, the little saab will be as fixed up as i can make it.

this is the dumbest thing, but i have to add it to my list:
8. prune the holly bush.
my neighbors have an unruly holly bush/monster that butts up my driveway. the neighbors are college kid renters and don’t do any yard work. so, this evil holly bush has grown into my driveway to the point that the bush rests on my car when i pull in the driveway. now it’s shedding all its evil holly bush pollen.
holly bush pollen + clean & polished car = bad news
so! before i can do any of this car cleaning i have to attack my neighbors holly bush. i am not looking forward to this project. but i have big pruners, gloves and a box of band-aids, so i think i’m as ready as i’ll ever be. (and while i’m injuring myself with plants, i think i might also attack the blackberries that are trying to grow over the walkway to my basement.)

3. this will not be fixed. nate the awesome mechanic told me “it’s an old car, people don’t expect everything to work.” those are some wise words.

5. i have the # for a guy that will come out and do this, plus polish up my interior, leather seats, etc. will arrange to have him come out after i vacuum el coche. see #2.
7. chat done. he says it’s in good shape.

i’ll miss my little car. i like getting onto aurora from denny going northbound. windows down. music loud. i floor it and the turbo kicks in and it feels like i’m going fast-fast, but really i’m only at 40. i like that feeling.

i will be happy to be rid of that dread in the gut when it comes time to pay for repairs, insurance and gas.

plus, i’m going to take a teeny bit of the cash i get from the sale and take myself on an out of town weekend holiday. plus it should pay for a couple of quarters of school, and it will pay off that last little bit of my credit card.
