This morning I exercised for the first time in a long time. I’m looking forward to doing it again tomorrow.
How I did it: I just realized that getting outside, walking around, feeding animals, hugging animals was very much exercise.
We agreed to adopt many rescue animals and they keep me busy and my bum tight. Hahaha.
Exercise doesn't have to be the same ol' boring stuff in your living room in front of a super model who doesn't really exercise herself.
I skip a stair while walking up and down for laundry, I suck in and squeeze my bum whenever I go anywhere. If you just a baby like me, lift that heavy little thing. You'll be amazed how much of a work-out just picking up your baby can be.
Lessons & tips: Either have 7 kids to chase after or a farm full of animals each one needing your love and attention.

Now that I’m getting into a routine, I am easily meeting 3 times per week. After next week, I will count this as “done.” Next week will be more challenging because I will be out of town. I will have to be creative with my workouts.
This week:
Sunday: ran 8, walked 8 then repeated
Monday: ran 26 min
Wednesday: biked 30, elliptical machine 15
Friday: ran 27
Saturday: ran 24
This week I did the following:
Sunday: alternated walking 5 min/running 5 min with dogs: 30 min
Monday: ran 22 min
Wednesday: biked 60 min
Thursday: walked 45 min (not aerobic)
Friday: walked 45 min (not aerobic)
Saturday: ran 23 min; walked 45 min
I ran Tues, Wed, Thursday, and Saturday this week. I think I can count this goal as completed after exercising over three times per week for four weeks straight. So, three more weeks to go!
I keep thinking about the triathlon next month and I am soo motivated! ( a lil nervous too) I also ride my bike to work everyday… only a mile but it really gets me pumped up :)
I feel so much better when I exercise, and Yoga really helps with my mood. I joined a health club right before New Year’s, but unexpected changes in finance and schedule have prevented me from using it as I intended. My goal is to get back on track and exercise at least three times a week in some way, and take a Yoga class.

I am tired of doctors. Since my last entry there have been several doctor visits and more physical therapy. I went back to the primary care physician because my hip was still bothering me even though the sciatica was getting better. 2 days before my visit, I broke out in a rash from head to toe. That is just like me. An allergic reaction to one of the meds. It’s like if I take any drug more than a week (except my allergy meds), I’ll get a rash.
So I got off the NSAID (anti-inflammatory), which is bad. That’s the main reason my sciatica was feeling better. I immediately flared back up, just not as bad as before.
I got a referral to an orthopedist, but because of our wonderful medical system (isn’t the free market fabulous? I had to wait 3 weeks.
Finally, the day arrived. Doctor walked in and spent 30 seconds moving my leg then sent me for another X-ray. Then he came back and said I have arthritis, but it’s not that bad. That I may have a degenerative hip disease (lovely). That he wants to send me for an MRI (finally). He put me on a steroid since I can’t take the anti-inflammatory (lovely). When I tried asking questions, he treated me like I was being insolent (typical male specialist). I can’t go to physical therapy anymore. I can’t exercise (frickin great). And I don’t have my MRI until Thursday.
SIGH. This medical system sucks. If I were a professional ball player. I’d be out of surgery and back on the field already.
I’ll keep you posted.
I just found out that the hospital where I work will allow me to work out in the state-of-the art fitness center for very, very cheap. I think this will help me meet this goal.

I’ve been doing my physical therapy exercises 2x per day for the past week. They are not very challenging, but some good core exercises like crunches. And the sciatica is feeling MUCH better. But the groin/hip thing is not.
My PT thinks it might be a torn ligament or tendon. I have a follow up with my primary care physician on Thursday where I will request and MRI. If I did tear something, I am not looking forward to the long recovery period.
