Today I found it (by accident). 11 months ago

I was doing a search for a lamp, and came across Levenger, which specializes in “tools for serious readers”. I was surprised to find this, because in all my searches for barrister bookcases, I never came across this company. They sell exactly what I’m looking for: solid wood components in a range of finishes. The components fit together, so you can build your bookcase the way you like, and over time if you choose to. They sell solid wood crowns, feet, clear glass and beveled glass doors, and you can get an optional lock and key. They are really expensive, so I wouldn’t necessarily do this all in one shot. I’m actually not doing this at all right now, but at least when I’m ready I know where to go. I hope they don’t go out of business before I’m ready.

The perfect bookcase 2 years ago

I would like to have a good bookcase for my books, especially the nice ones. I want a barrister bookcase with glass and wooden doors to protect my books from dust and whatever other elements, and to cut down on dusting. I just can’t seem to find the right one. I like that the one in the picture has both glass and wood doors, but I think I want one three or four units high with only the bottom unit having a wooden door. The top units would have glass. I also think I want a dark wood finish like walnut, mahogany or cherry, and I also want real wood. This will be hard to find or I’ll have to have it made. I know it’s not a top priority and it will be really expensive so this is probably something for the far-off future, but still something I know I want.
