I’m fascinated by Jim Morrison. I can’t decide if I would love him or hate him if I were to meet him. Probably both. I sort of happened upon his grave the first time I was in Paris- it’s a bit unimpressive (but “hello, I love you” was written on his headstone in lipstick), but Pere Lachaise Cemeterie is eerily beautiful (and would be more so if not for all the “Jim—> this way” graffiti”). Visit Oscar Wilde and Chopin while you’re there.
How to go to Jim Morrison's grave
How I did it: I've been listening to The Doors since college... at UCLA no less, where Jim Morrison has a locker in the Math building that you can see to this day, covered with LSD stamps... I loved going to Pere Lachaise. Beautiful, gorgeous, and creepy. If you're a fan, got to see it!! Incidentally, there are many artists, philosophers, writers... there. really worth it!!
Lessons & tips: Buy a map at the gate otherwise you'll be completely lost.

When I lived in France I was lucky to get to Paris many times. I was 21 at the time & went to Pere Lachaise cemetery more than once with visitors to show them Jim Morrison’s grave. Seeing cemeterys from other cultures is pretty interesting and this one has LOTS of famous graves but is overrun with graffiti about this more esoteric guest. The grave itself is in the middle of much larger monuments and has a bust of Jim Morrison is his most beautiful days. The grounds around are covered with offering such as bottles of booze and condoms.
