I made law review at my law school by doing the following:
1) Following the competition instructions to a T;
2) Setting aside the two week period of the writing competition for doing ONLY the competition;
3) Finishing the paper a day early so I could go back and edit it substantially; and
4) Turning in the paper on time.
I have written a book about how to get onto law review based on what I learned from succeeding in the competition and from later grading write-on competition papers. It’s called Making Law Review: The Expert’s Guide to Mastering the Write-On Competition, and is available in most law school libraries. It is also available on Amazon.

So! I got back an acceptance letter from the tech journal. I’ll definitely be on one journal at least and— yeah, it might be the best thing in the end, even if I don’t make law review, because it’s the one journal where I actually have substantive interest. Today, in the delirium of knowing I AM NOT A COMPLETE FUCKING NOT A COMPLETE FUCKING LOSER GOD I WILL BE EMPLOYABLE, I spent about fifteen minutes trying to explain the thingy with the post-recording chip or whatever that the FCC did.
God. Now I just have to wait for law review rejection letter. :D

The farther I get from the date when I mailed the goddamn thing off, the more I am convinced that not only will I have failed to make law review but that I am going to have failed in a hysterically funny way. They are not even going to bother laughing when they read this thing.
Christ. Why didn’t I work harder? Why didn’t I commit myself more fully? Why didn’t I read the instructions at some point?
