Shazamela is rethinking her New Year's resolutions.
I’m still counting this as done, because of all the fabulous desserts I made this year. Looking back at the list, I’d say my favorites for the year would be the tiramisu, slow-cooker tapioca, apricot-cherry crisp, and the candied ginger gingerbread with lemon sauce. I’m adding this again as a 2008 resolution.

Yum!!!
Although the recipe didn’t call for it, I sprinkled a few dried cranberries on top for a little festive holiday touch.

I made a heavenly gingerbread cake with candied ginger and a lemon glaze for our staff holiday party. I put extra candied ginger in it and it was divine. Sweet(it called for 2 cups of molasses!) and spicy.

This goal was one of my New Year’s resolutions and I’m so behind! I’ll have to make a more concerted effort over the next several weeks to make more desserts. Darn. :-D

A recipe from Janie Hibler’s Berry Bible. While this was good (how can fresh blackberries with butter, whole milk and sugar not be good?), it wasn’t great. Most likely I won’t be making it again.

An easy and fabulous recipe from last month’s cookbook club selection Savoring San Francisco. It called for soaking the ladyfingers in espresso and kahlua, spreading melted bittersweet chocolate on top of the cookies, slathering zabaglione, whipped cream, and marsala between layers of the cookies and dusting it all with fine espresso grounds and cocoa.

...a couple years ago I made 22 different desserts for a family gathering. The plans didn’t start out with that many, but many relatives requested their favorites and I didn’t want to change my original selection. I made miniature desserts, so was able to share them with friends, family and even the dentist office.
It’s a lot of fun to try different recipes, but I won’t be baking that many at once anytime soon.

The apricots were just a tad underripe, so they weren’t overly sweet. The apricot-cherry combination, with some fresh ginger, resulted in a wonderfully tart crisp that went well with both whipped cream (last night) and vanilla ice cream (this evening).

I made these for my husband on Father’s day. He loves desserts with bananas. These were seriously decadent—homemade caramel sauce (with cream), shortcakes with lots of cream and, of course, whipped cream. Incredibly delicious and easy to make ahead.
