School starts this coming up Monday. It’ll be the first day of my last semester. I think I’m more sad and nervous than excited. I want the degree but I’m not all that excited about not being in school for 8 months and not knowing where I’ll be living in just a year from now.
If I get accepted into a MFA program, which is definitely what I want, I’m just having trouble finding one that I know I like. But even if I find one there’s no telling whether or not I’ll get into that one.

Less than a week until I meet with my professors to talk about what I’m doing for my portfolio classes and I know what I want to do, but I feel like I should have already started.

Working on it. 3 months ago

I’ve been in school for four years. I’ve just got a semester yet. I’ve got to complete a show. That’s it. But it seems like that is the hardest part. Harder than actually graduating. Harder than any written exam. It’s the only thing that stands in my way.

I’ve got make 10-20 pieces of art in the next couple of months.

I’ve got plans and everything. I don’t know why I decided that I wanted to make all new stuff for my show. Because I wanted it to be the best.

I’ve got to do it. There’s no other option.

Almost done! 14 months ago

I just started the fall semester of my senior year. Im working full time and taking classes full time this semester, and anyone who’s gone through art school knows what a huge workload that is! One day at a time.

I had my last class yesterday, I turned in my slides today. I’m going back to school all next week, but only to do work to sell work… as far as school goes… I’M DONE. It’s official, I have a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan for Photography. I’m already selling work and getting shown in galleries, pretty exciting.

Now for that MFA, but that won’t start for at least 4 years… :) Good luck to everyone else out there going for it, and congrats to anyone graduating as well.

...and so it did. I got my BFA from FSU about two years ago. I ‘specialized’ in graphic design, though what my program taught me was more about ‘art’ than design. I now work in an ad agency, making magazines, posters, billboards, whatever for a small range of clients, mostly in the hospitality industry. I enjoy the ‘design’ part of what I do, but feel a bit creatively restricted by the ‘advertising’ part of what I do. Thinking about going back for an MFA, acctually, maybe in interactive 3-D media.

I like school.

In 2005, I completed a Bachelors in illustration and sequential art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. It was a great experience! I have been published, and currently work on commission. If anyone has questions about the college or business, I’ll help in any way I can.

Mine is in fiber arts. When society collapses, I can build a yurt. Actually, I think that art school can be great. In addition to developing my artistic skills, it taught me problem solving and to really look at any situation.
