replace the kitchen floor

I think I have it figured out. Super excited. It’s going to be more expensive than I was hoping for. But then it’s September already so there is no way I can paint the house this year. Rearranging the budget for a really cool floor.

I mentioned this to my cousin and her boyfriend piped up and said that he enjoys this kind of work and misses it since he no longer owns a home. He offered to help me put the floor in and is even refusing payment for his work! We’re working out a deal where he is going to use my spare room for storage for a few months )he’s in the process of moving) in exchange for the work.

Now I finally can really look into what kind of flooring and pick something out!

I’m really tempted to go for black and white checks, but my friends tell me it’s too corny and would make my house harder to sell eventually.

I was talking with a coworker about this today and he seemed to believe that it is something my homeowner’s insurance should cover. Definately something to look into.
Oh the dream! To be able to affort to hire someone to do all these repairs instesd of doing it myself!

I’m decided against tile. Its more work than I’m looking for. Instead I’m leaning toward marmoleum.

So much of the tile in the stores looks so bathroom-y. I found a pattern I like… Its going to look almost exactly like what I currently have (white with black accents) but in tile rather than the current vinyl. Now to find the time and energy and money to do it…
My goal is to finish by the end of June, before the weather gets too hot.
