Yeah, I’m really late in the game. I took the December LSAT, so my scores will not be in until January. My goal is to have all my apps done by then (since it’s not like they’re going to look at my apps until there is an LSAT score attached), and boy, have I been slacking. Here we go…

How I did it: I applied to a bunch of schools through the LSAC website. It's really helpful. The application fees were expensive. I had to take the LSAT which was expensive. That's about it. Read how I did it…

Hell, fucking, yeah! So I applied, and subsequently got accepted into my first choice law school!!! It’s been a week, exactly, since I was accepted and it still seems unreal to me. The really nerdy side of me says: 3 years of learning about the fucking LAW, hell yeah! The lazy side of me says: OMG So much work! But I am ridiculously happy, not to mention it means only being an hour from my girlfriend! It’s also not in Maryland, praise the Heavens/noodly complex carbohydrates above! Although that means being 15 hours away from my mommy and 1 year old nephew. I’m fairly sure I’m going to have “home sick” issues for a while…most likely during the winter/summer months that I’d usually be home for. But the greater part of me says…you are a grown ass person and you need to do this so you can do what you want to do in your life. I want to be a prosecutor more than anything in the world (well, aside from marrying my girlfriend and having babies), and this is my chance.
A lot of people go to law school because they don’t know what else to do, while JD will never hurt you, I would never tell someone to go to law school unless they plan on becoming a lawyer or law professor. My advice on is this for those applying now, first if you get into a top twenty law school, GO! Law is a snobby profession. Second, if you don’t have that option( Like me) go to a school in the region you want to live if you want to live in Atlanta don’t go University of Cincinnati, go Emory, Georgia State, Mercer. Also, arrange a visit with the admission director of the schools you want to go to. It is alot harder to reject someone when they can put a face to the name. I have worked/volunteered with admissions in both undergrad and law school, if you want more advice feel free to contact me!
I realized that a law degree would be more useful than say, an MA in public policy. However, I think I just want to become a law professor (eventually, after more degrees).
I’m working on my application….that’s right…I’m only applying to one school… LSU Law School….
I have to finish my personal statement and make sure that everyone has written their letters of recommendation…..
let’s all cross our fingers…and maybe our toes
