I made it in bed by 11 last night. I felt mostly rested this morning. Things have been kinda chaotic so sleeping has been chucked aside—unfortunately. Glad to be getting rested again.

Today I woke up at 8 (which I never do because I always opt to sleep in and end up losing half the day because I am a weiner). I ate breakfast with A, went for an hour long walk on the mountain, made lunch from scratch, walked to/from the gym (3 kilometers round trip) and worked out. Now I am at home eating homemade spaghetti and feeling more wonderful than I have in months.

I’ve been going to the gym recently and find that although it’s just been a few days my whole life seems to be going better. I feel fabulous.

silly pants me stayed up really late last night and now I am wide awake. Silly pants work has split up my days off and I do no like setting my alarm on my days off. There is just too many exciting things happening for me to go to sleep when i should ^^. Someday I’ll get this right.

so last night I began to prepare to wind down for the night around 9 pm. I didn’t fall asleep until 4 am, and woke up at 5 am. Surprisingly alert for only one hour of sleep. I am beginning to see a huge pattern of inconsistency in my life, which is likely responsible for my inability to sleep at a reasonable hour.

Getting ready to go to sleep. Finding a good book so that I”ll be well rested for work in the early morning (5 am).

I know that I need to go to bed before 10 or 11 because I wake up at 5 am. Working on it. I need my sleep but sometimes it is just so easy for time to pass, or for me to get distracted—or to just push it. I know that I function better on 7+ hours of sleep. Turning in now. It’s a start ;)

Last night I actually went to sleep at 7 pm (was flipping wiped). I had horrific nightmares which reminds me that I have to be careful where I dig in the past. Silly me.

I am generally pretty good to go to sleep early because I work ridiculously early in the morning. It’s just after midnight and my alarm is set to go off in a mere 5 hours.
I drank a cup of coffee around 8, and I had a nap late in the afternoon. It’s totally my own fault and I know that this is why I can’t sleep.
So I am sitting here, blogging or writing and entry or what ever and waiting for my body to feel tired enough to sleep. I used to be an insomniac and sometimes didn’t get a good nights rest for months on end. This was solved through a series of lifestyle changes and a lot of trial and error. I feel that my life is different now that I actually do get enough sleep and nights that it’s thrown off I find that I am better able to cope the next morning because I generally sleep extremely well now.
It’s kind of funny though how we take sleep for granted and deprive ourselves of it either because so more exiting thing is currently happening in life, or you are an occasional insomniac like myself. Usually if I distract myself with a brief activity I am eventually able to go to sleep instead of tossing and turning and waiting to fall asleep.
I work in 6 hours. At least I had a nap today. Work was also less demanding than usual today which might explain why I am not nearly as tired as usual.
I hugely violated my ‘wind down time’ tonight too as I spent most of the evening at the laundromat. I need at least a half an hour to wind down at night—to straighten my room, pack a bag for work the next morning, get a shower, read a book….etc. I find that these things let me go to sleep much easier.
Off to try sleeping again.
