be a better leader

I am a good leader I just want to be the best I can be. Bring light to the darkness that lives within us all! God is the way the truth and the light! Pick up your cross and follow after him, for he is the true leader.

I’ve never done anything remotely like this before, so it’s been a huge leap for me. Sometimes I think I can’t take it, but I’m getting better. Anyways, since it’s my first, I haven’t been doing a great job at leading other people. I’ve been focusing so much on my own self-improvement that I’ve neglected to focus on the people I’m leading. I went to a leadership conference, and they said that leadership is not about being a good leader, it’s about bringing out the leadership in the people you’re leading.

If we don’t know it, we can’t show it. Paul “Bear” Bryant, the legendary football coach at the University of Alabama, said that winning team members need to know five things.

Tell me what you expect of me.

Give me an opportunity to perform.

Let me know how I’m getting along.

Give me guidance where I need it.

Reward me according to my contribution.

I’ve been working at socializing more at my job. I know that this sounds kind of funny, but I tend to not socialize and it is an important part of leadership.

Last week and this week I am taking two different training courses on leadership. I learned a lot in last weeks and am learning a lot in this weeks too. Looking forward to taking this knowledge back to work and using it. I created this goal, so that I don’t lose site of the things I need to change about the way I communicate and lead.
