After vacation Christmas week, I’m off to the shelter to pick out my new friend!
How I did it: After wanting a kitty my entire life (I'm from a dog family!) I finally bite the bullet and got one. I researched the different breeds first and later attended a cat show to see them all in action. Then I went online and found a breeder because I wanted an exotic cat. I put down the deposit and later the remainder of the money and waited until the kitty was 12 weeks old and ready for shipment. And then I went to the airport to pick up my kitty. Read how I did it…
Ceekins is extremely worried =(
How I did it: Even though I'm allergic to cats, my apartment building allows them as pets but not dogs or anything else. I wanted a pet really bad and a family friend needed to get rid of one that was just under 1 year old so I got her! Her name is Taz and she's very whiny and makes my nose runny like crazy but I love her to death. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I have been seriously thinking about it for 3 years...last week, i responded to an add and once i saw her cute little face. that was it. discussed it with my roomie and 2 days later...we have the cutest little kittie.she is soft, playful, independent and has the most adorable little face. so nice to have someone greet you at the door and play with. i am the proudest kittie mommie ever! How I did it: I saw them in a newspaper. Two kittens, eight weeks old, brothers and gorgeous. I feel in love immediately. One year ago I bought a bonsai and promised myself I won't get any pets untill this bonsai survives twelve months. I don't exaclty have a green thumb... well in fact every plant dies in a couple of days. Anyway, surprisingly it did survive (I have to admit it lost a little of it's original richleafy canopy) and I was free to have my… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to the local pound by my parent's house. It took me forever to decided on a cat, but I fell in love and named her Daffodil. I had to come back the next day to pick her up and drive her all the way home, but seeing how happy she's been since I took her away from all of the cages and fuss is definitely worth it. MolkoMagic is in love with HIM
My sister desperately wants a cat, I want a cat, but my parents, while saying they will, don’t have the motivation. So it may take some time, but I know it’ll happen someday, if not when I’m within the 4 walls of my life-long home.
There are ads in the paper all the time, but nothing seems appropriate just yet….I’ll keep hoping, cos when I’m alone in my room reading, I just wish I had a furry bundle there with me. <3
In fact, I want THIS furry bundle with me!
drawandquarterme is getting back, back, back to when we lasted. Just like I imagined.
I’m very allergic-sneezing, coughing, watery eyes and itchy skin if I’m around em too long-But I want to get me on some meds and buy a cat. I love cats! Lol.
Well it has been a year since Thumper died. I still miss him terribly and he will always have a place in my heart but I really would like to have animal companionship again. I got Thumper when I was 15 years old. We went through so much together. I always knew when I went to bed that I wasn’t alone. I have had some struggles with that this past year more than anything else. I don’t like my own company. I can be deep and introspective but I need to come up for air and be with others. Well my mom has a firm rule now…no more pets. She has a point. Financially we are just making it. I also struggle with guilt that had I been able to afford it…could Thumper have been made better and not simply put out of his misery…So I must move out and be financially independent first. I think I might like to get 2 cats so they can be company for each other. I used to want a dog since I never had one other than droopy who died when I was 5…but I am thinking most dogs simply aren’t practical for a single woman living alone…dogs aren’t meant to be shut up in an apartment for 9 hours alone…cats handle it better and I know cats…there hasn’t been a time in my life since I was 7 that I haven’t had cats around me…
I’ve had cats much of my life, but after my last one died, it was so hard to make the leap to get another one, and ended up getting two. Brother and sister from the same litter, both mostly black, with very little white.
I used to think I was a “cat person” when I was a teenager, but that was because the only pets I ever had were cats. Then I got my dog, Cane, who I love so much, and realized I love dogs and cats equally, but for different reasons. Now I need a cat in my life again. Cane likes to cuddle, but he’s not very soft nor squishy. I think if I got a girl cat I would name her Mary-Jane. I don’t know what I would name a boy cat… Poppinfloss?
Kat is trying to better herself
As soon as I move to a place that allows them, I’m definitely adopting a cat. I just love animals and become so depressed when I’m away from them for too long. As a nursing student, I don’t think I’ll be able to devote the time and one-on-one attention that a dog or young kitten needs, but I think that an adult cat might be a good start. They tend to be more self-reliant I’ve found. Thoughts? Experience anyone?

there are some obstacles:
– I live in the middle of a city. I don’t think it would be safe to let a cat out here.
– I’m working full time with a lot of leisure activity. So I’m not at home a lot, and I live alone.
Would it help to have 2 cats so they won’t be so alone when I’m not there?
- I’m not sure how to get my home cat-safe without spending a lot of money (e.g. cat net for my balcony, make my windows cat-safe…)
- My flat isn't that big (60 sqare metres).Experiences, anyone?
Should I wait until I have a garden at hand, someone to live with or until I can work from home most of my time?

My cat is fricken cool.
He does nothing.
I like it that way.
He just purrs, and sleeps, and chills. I got him a while ago but i forgot to mark this. If I put a tshirt on him he purrs forever.

Marie asks,
“I never had a pet before, and i've just stopped to be scared of them. Now I really want to own a cat, since I saw my friend's cats. I need to know if its hard to take care of a cat, if my house will be dirty and my stuff broken because of the kitty.”

“I'd love to get a cat, but I have an allergy to them. It isn't bad but I wonder if it would get that way over time. Does anyone have tips for dealing with an allergy to cats?”
