From her last column, January 11, 2007 2 years ago

“We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war. Raise hell. Think of something to make the ridiculous look ridiculous. Make our troops know we’re for them and trying to get them out of there.”

Molly Ivins (1944-2007) 2 years ago

“Witty best-selling author and columnist Molly Ivins, a Texas liberal who died after a long battle with breast cancer, left legions of admirers, even among the politicians she regularly skewered.”

I love that Molly Ivins wore the term “liberal” like a badge of honor. I could listen to her speak for hours. Normally, a southern drawl just annoyed me, but her words were always melody to me – confirming my beliefs. Every time I read her books or columns, I felt less like an outsider and more like a member of an elite club of “the people who get it.”

She will be greatly missed.

In her memory, I encourage everyone to post quotes from her.

“I still believe in Hope – mostly because there’s no such place as Fingers Crossed, Arkansas.”
