What a beautiful country. Breathtaking, really. I was only 5 years old, but I still remember it! This was one of several European adventures my mom let me go on with my friends and their families. I remember I went with my best friend, Lisa Stevens…a neighbor girl on the base we lived at in Germany. Her mom, Tica, used to dress us just alike. I will never forget that trip. I remember the beautiful tulips, passing a curious looking watchmaker’s shop in a quaint shopping district, wearing a funny blue bathing cap with big flowers all over it, buying my first pair of real dutch wooden shoes, I still have them!...happy happy memory.
it was super worth it! ;)
i already miss my dutch friends now that they’re a thousand miles away..
I finished my paperworks for holland today and already sent it to IBG.
now I only have to deal with the housing/apartment search.
and wait for 8 months
I am absolutely in love with the country, It is amazing how nice dutch people are, beautiful buildings, life style, language, culture, everything! I went there 3 weeks ago and I am still not over so much beauty and fun! I went by myself and had the best time of my life I wish to go again soon and hopefully live there forever!!
I’ve been several times since I grew up very close to the border (lived in Germany). My memories of it are fairly pleasant… but I wanna go back now as an adult and make the most of it…
It is a lovely place. The windmills and the culture are so neat. The farm land is completely covered with greenhouses! Miles and miles of them.
The flower markets are full…people buy flowers all the time for their tables, for dirt cheap!
I love how they ride bikes and shop on cobblestoned streets every day instead of for the week or more.
I loved watching ocean liners go down the Rhine and trying to figure out what countries the flags were from!
Once upon a time, when I was very little…..I don’t remember very much, so I’d like to go again… ;o)
Well then, our plan was to visit Paris for a week and in the middle of the week, drive to Holland for a couple of days. It turned out Paris is tirrable in this time of the year – hot and crowded – but Holland was a wonderful refreshing new place!! The weather was beautiful and the people were so nice, and the country is so pastoral!
Holland is amaazing :-)
I felt so at home in the Netherlands when I visited. Everyone was friendly, the scenery was beautiful. It felt as if I’d been there before, lived there before. It was like coming home. The atmosphere is very casual.
You will not be disappointed!
