I have figured out a better way to travel to space, although I have not quite finished transforming my prototype into the final shuttle.
It is essentially a cardboard tunnel with a few couch chairs in the middle, but you will need to coat the boxes in the front of the shuttle with cereal boxes, which will protect the shuttle from the high heat conditions when returning to earth[see footnote]. Additionally, I have found that I can achieve greater thrust using rocket boosters made from oatmeal canisters. As for my fuel source, I have built my space ship to run on dreams, but current tests show that I can expect double fuel efficiency with wet dreams.
Otherwise, I have purchased a variety of florescent paints at Wal-mart, which should allow the ship to reach a greater velocity and in turn orbit the earth at a lower altitude.
*This will keep my ship from ending up like Columbia. I was secretly commissioned to build it by NASA after the disaster, due to the dangers of shuttles as well as the high cost of travel using them.
