It looks so cool. I mean, I know it’s hard and takes a lot of time and effort—but, I’d love to try it!
My DW bought me a gift certificate for a 1 hour session at the studio in town and I’ve just scheduled it. Within a month, I’ll have tried it, and I’ll have an idea if I want to sink the money I’ll need into learning this. I’m SO psyched!
It was about 8 hours- two teachers and three students- I made two ornements, a glass, a paperweight and a vase. Amazong!
I sometimes felt incredibly daft and sometimes incredably empowered.
I heard about six months ago that there was a group planning on opening a studio in Racine. And they planned to offer lessons. But, so far I ‘ve seen neither hide nor hair of them. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Update (next day): Just tracked down the owners of the glassblowing studio. Looks like its still progressing – emailed to ask for details!
Another update!: The group setting up the studio is targetting December 3 for an opening date. Oooh! In time for Christmas! A pricing list should be available within the month. Yay Racine!
I’ve been lusting after a local glassblowers class for about two years now- and just received a class from mom as a birthday gift. Nevermind that it’s way too expensive and not my birthday- I’m so excited!
It’s two eight hour days- a very full weekend right before Halloween. I chose the vessals class- most students complete about 10 to 12 items- things like vases. Woohoo!
