Scissor Sisters, Take Your Mama, Scissor Sisters

I’ve associated so many memories of Italy with this song, which makes very little sense lyrically. I’m pretty sure it’s a song about coming out, but for us, it was a song about going out.

My mom sang that song to wake me up every morning from the day I was born until the day I got married. When I had to get up early for college classes, she ran a string all the way down the hall, with metal bells at one end that would crash to the floor and wake the whole house up at the sound of the alarm, then she would start caterwauling at the top of her lungs, and as off-key as possible:

I first saw it a couple months ago, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I drive in the car and see something that brings back a memory of some song I used to love and think, “That one will have to go on the list.”

For Goodness sake! If I’m going to give it that much attention, I really ought to just add it to my list.

You know those songs that you can listen to once and they immediately bring up feelings that take you back to a certain memory or time in your life? The soundtrack to my life so far would consist of every single one of these songs in order, so that I only have to play the CD, and my life flashes before my eyes… haha.
