jane76552000 is not having a Top Shelf Margarita!
So I bought a cycling book, I already have a bike, of course, I have a crazy colleague who suggests we ride 16 miles to work from time to time (and back, of course!), so I say why not?
I have always admired people who ride bicycle’s for exercise and think I would really enjoy it.
I would need to know what kind of bike to get, any suggestions? The last time I road a bike it really hurt my behind! I would love suggestions before i purchase one.
I have put on a lot of weight and my friend told me that cycling helps in weight reduction. Not sure how far true that is. Anycase, has anyone got any suggestion for a good beginner’s bike model?
My cousin just got delivered a road bike from 5339. It’s a BMC Streetfire SSX. I took it for a spin but I am not sure if this is the right model for me. I think I can settle with something more simple. Suggestions will be really appreciated. Also has anyone got their weight reduced due to cycling? If yes, can you suggest what kind of cycling routine you have Like how long do you cycle at what speeds you do it and stuff? Thank you!
got a Giant for $588 at summit cycles 2day- rode all day the only bad thing is the seat hurts- but the dude at the shop said the bike shorts are a lot better feeling and its the difference between night and day. rode like 10 miles maybe

Everyone should try cycling. I hadn’t gotten on a bike since I was about 12 before February of this last year, and by the summer, I was cycling up to 8-12 hours every single day, up to 120 miles a day, for over two months! It’s so easy to pick up, and you rarely get tired. Give it a try!

My first month of owning a road bike, I’ve done only 4 rides of increasing mileage: 2.4, 7.3, 8.8, 11.9. But it’s a start.

I bought a Trek 1000 last week and took it for a short ride this morning at the airport—mainly just to see if I can ever get used to those clipless pedals. My total ride: 2.4 miles.

Yesterday, I got up with the sun and did a 2.5 mile loop trail on my Schwinn. Not an impressive mileage, I know, but enough to give me some practice with the gears, I guess.

I’ve only gone as far as to spend some time at the local bike shop discussing my options with the staff, and I hope to lay my money down by the first week of July. I’ve narrowed my choices down to either a Giant OC3 or a Trek 1000. In the meantime, I’ve been peddaling a used Schwinn Sidewinder mountain bike around the house, wondering if I can stay in the saddle for a 30-mile road trip.
