How I did it: I set aside 20 minutes for meditation everyday, after having written out a kind of contract that I would finish the 40-day session. I'd meditate in front of this everyday to encourage myself into finishing all the days. At first it was something of a chore, definitely for the 1st week it was something of a challenge. But by the time I got to the 2nd week, it felt completely normal - like it was part of any other routine like brushing my teeth or going for a walk. I probably should have paid more attention to 43things in the last few days leading up to the completion of this goal. For any who read this, you can take my word for it that I actually did complete the 40 days, regardless of what my personal challenge page says (the site could use a little tweaking here and there).
Anyway, the 40 days I completed just about a day or two ago, but I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I started. Literally, if feels like I decided to sit down yesterday and start a personal challenge. Should time fly when you’re meditating? I’m taking that as a good sign! :) 5 years ago
I am really starting to enjoy my 40 day meditation. For the first 2 weeks, I think it was something of a chore, to be honest, sitting down in the same place everyday at the same time on the same mantra. Perhaps it’s just that I’ve absorbed it into my routine, and now it’s feels more natural than challenging. Once I get into it, and I concentrate my mind not to worry on other things, I actually find it extremely relaxing. It’s quite a good way to unwind, which is great because I meditate now before I go to bed or after I’ve taken a shower. 5 years ago
Gosh I’m so glad I can come check on 43things, or else I’d probably lose track of the days I’ve been meditating. Anyway, I’ve less than a month now, and this is easy enough to do every night as I find it relaxing as well as worthwhile. 5 years ago
It’s just been a little over a week since I started this 40-day meditation session. I thought I might as well make this a personal challenge of mine, as I’m rarely one to finish anything right through till the end unless I really commit to it. I’m glad to say it’s not getting any harder with each day, so fingers crossed I actually complete this! 5 years ago
