Organise my house, finish projects started on it, and keep it clean

It took me all day to get to it. I had to keep telling myself to stay on track. In the process I also cleaned up under the kitchen sink, wiped down the kitchen cabinets and cleared out, and put in a box to file away, my large letter and leaflet rack. Was hoping to clear the kitchen table too – but that is still to be done.

But still I can’t stay focussed, and still I get distracted out into the garden.

I have a perfect opportunity to paint my very tiny laundry and back entrance, while we are between washing machines (the old one broke down). I managed to clean out part of that small space – but I haven’t stuck to the project. We already have the paint in storage. All I need to do is pull down the shelving unit (an easy job), quickly clear the cobwebs, and I can paint.

So I must do a good clean up. 4 weeks to her birthday and 5 till the party (can’t have an 18th party on the easter weekend now can we?). There’s stacks of work that needs to be done, especially as my husband and I are planning to go away in the week before the party. The kids will help – but I have a lot more time on my hands than they do.

I let my house go for such a long time then decide – enoughs enough and try to clean it. It becomes a major project every time. It would be so much easier if I learned to just clean what’s needed each day as the work crops up.

Sporadic cleaning is just not good enough!!!!!

At least the garden is coming along nicely. I have visitors coming down from Sydney soon. One is a friend of my daughter who will be arriving today and staying for a couple of weeks. The other will be friends from Sydney who are coming next week, though not staying at our place they will be visiting us next Wednesday and the house is a real mess. Not that that will bother them really – I mean – they know me from old times. They are coming to see me and my family – they don’t really care about the mess (though it would be nice to have the house looking more respectable).

the house is a pig stye and i’m just not morivated to do anything about it. Why do I just turn the other way and find other things to do.

Maybe a good session of singing and piano playing will help (sounds like an odd cop out doesn’t it – well – it’s funny – but when I do sit down to a good piano session in particular I find I can cope better with facing the housework – and actually do some). The complexities of the human mind.

I’ll try to get something done about that today. I don’t know how long the smell has been there – I not long came home after a 2 month holiday/vacation.

My youngest daughter helped clean up the lounge room (which wasn’t too bad just needed a good vacuum again). She also shifted the large coffee table to one side of the room, we will set the Christmas tree up there. The new position of the coffee table also clears space for movement – I’ll try and make the most of it to learn some line dancing from my videos. I especially want to learn the dance to ‘Achy Brakey Heart’, so I can dance it at my sing along group.

So I can have space to do follow my Tai chi and pilates DVDs. I was hoping to also use the video player up there but my old video player does not compute with my new TV.

every now and again is not good enough. If I can start by at least doing the mopping once a week I’ll be heading in the right direction, stopping at just giving them a sweep or even taking the vacuum over them is not good enough – I must mop more regularly.
