Be a college professor

I want to be a professor at college, specialized in English Literature.

If you want to become a professor, make sure you find out what’s involved. Talk to those professors you admire, and ask them what is involved. It took me 6 years after college to finish my Ph.D.—and that was quick. You have to be good at setting and meeting your own deadlines. You have to enjoy researching and writing. You have to enjoy teaching (unless you want your life as a professor to be miserable). And you have to be willing to do the other things that profs have to do, like serve on committees. Plus, you have to find out about the job market in your field. In most, it’s a national market, so you have to be willing to go wherever the jobs are.

But it’s one of the few jobs left where you have the autonomy to do most of your work when and where you want—and you get paid to learn new things and then pass on your knowledge!

im almost finished with my sophmore year. I plan on transfering to the UW and majoring in Near Eastern Language and Culture. wth a focus on Iranian studies. I would love to be a college professor/writer/international business dude/consultant. entreprenuer.
I’ve been fascinated with everything Persian for the past few years and am now somewhat functional in Farsi.
I love teaching, I love art,music,language,culture, and I love history. I love school and i think working at one is a great place to get payed for indulging my self and others to these things.

I want to teach Anthropology, about the Middle East, and especially the religious history. What good is being fascinated and not sharing it? But, other things must be accomplished first if I can do this. I think the information could be highly useful in a political or military situation. But, let me be honest…I’m just interested for me- lol.
