Got my braces on today! 10 months ago

I should have them off before the end of the year WooHoo!

    Untitled 10 months ago

I had braces for years as a kid but I was never told (nor were my parents) that I would need to continue to wear the retainer. It was an utter shock to us all when one of my problem teeth (luckily not all of them) went back to being just that – a problem tooth. Next time I’m wearing that retainer to the grave.

I only need them on the bottom... 16 months ago

which is very nice because they won’t show, especially if I get the clear kind. I have bridges that I want to come out. So, the braces are needed to close the small gap that will be left and straighten the teeth that have shifted from lousy bridgework.

Going through the pain..again. 2 years ago

So I got braces again about a week ago… The orthodonist said it’ll take two years for my teeth to straighten out. There were just two teeth on the top that needed to be brought forward and relieve some minor crowding on the bottom.

I’m surprised how quickly teeth straighten out again. It’s only been one week and one of the two problem teeth of the top is already in line with the rest of the teeth; the other is almost in line (like, I’m talking, barely out of line). My bottom teeth are so much straighter also, with only two teeth that are crowding each other.

Is there any possible way that an orthodonist might consider taking braces off early? Or do I have to have braces on my teeth for basically two full years? I wouldn’t even mind having to wear them for 12 months and getting them off a year early. I just don’t want to have them my senior year of high school if there isn’t a reason to.

$8000 total to redo it again! 2 years ago

Everyone says “WHAT? you need braces??!!” (obviously it’s not tht much of an annoyance to others)

and I think my teeth’s fine too. although it’s not 100% perfect like it should be after having braces… It’s not bad at all. Unless my teeth is very crooked and ugly, Life’s better if you focus on other more productive things. other than mourning over petty stuff.

Love who you are and what you’ve got :)

here it goes again 2 years ago

I’m gettin braces done again. but this time, i got a new better orthodontist who cares.

he said the only way to get my teeth perfect is to take out my wisdom teeth and 2 molars on the top and 2 at the bottom.

the reason why my teeth went out of place is because it’s over crowded and my other old orthodontist did not see the problem. no did he cared when I pointed out to him that my teeth’s rotating again! argh! and he said to stop it rotating, i wear retainers for the rest of my life.!

    what !!

luckily i found a new solution from my new orthodontist. but. sigh. more money to be spent on this :/

    I start 1-29-2007 2 years ago

Well – I had braces once for 2.5 years back when I was 13. I thought I was more intelligent than the braces and decided not to wear my retainer – guess what happened…

I have been looking at slightly crooked teeth for the past 15 years and figured – it is time to do it…(I just turned 32)

I have already started my treatment and I will be ‘braced’ again on January 29th, 2007 – for 18 months.

    Wish me luck-

What a bitch 3 years ago

Mine is the worst because the re-fucking-up-ness is not my fault at all. I had braces for 2 and a half years, and my teeth were straight when they came off. However, my teeth were actually coming out of my gums because the brace was so tight, so the dentist took it off and that was that. Obviously now my teeth are buggered up again, and my new dentist said that the old one over reacted and i should have got a retainer :|

It’s not nice being 18 and about to have braces for the second time. It’s not a fun experience. Grr.

Same here. I had my braces for exactly two years. What a long two years to go to waste. One of my biggest regrets… not wearing my retainer!

Well, now I wish I could do it again, because my retainer broke shortly after I had them taken off. The orthodontist glued it together again (cheapo guy wouldn’t just make another one!) and it never fit right again. LOL, maybe I should sue him for the cost of getting braces again! :-P
