May 10 (Sunday) – 6 correct slow pull ups
every day or other day I will log my stats until I reach my goal.
How I did it: I performed 6 correct pull ups on day 1. The next day was focused on push ups. I wanted to make sure I worked my muscles but not too much.
On day three, I was focused and I knew I would do at least 8. I wanted to quit after 8 but I thought I was too close. I struggled but I reach my 10.
Next goal is 15.
Lessons & tips: Start with your first set of pull ups. That is your starting number. Then either every day or every other day, see if you could raise the number by one or two.
Do other workouts to strengthen your upper body.
Give yourself enough time to reach your goal.
Resources: A pull up bar, any type of exercise material that will help you on the correct forms.

I was able to pull up 15 or more times while in the military. Then after several car accidents in the service, I was not able to do even one.
After a few years of walking, sitting, and sleeping in pain, I am now 99% pain free. In fact, I have only been in major pain one time in the last 12 months.
Mostly due to my natural inflammatory, I have been able to wrestle my pups and walk more.
I only count full pull ups. I start with my knees parralel to my waist, then slowly pull myself up till my chin is above the bar, hold 2 seconds, then slowly lower myself until my arms are almost fully extended. (DO NOT lock arms.)
My goal is 10, which I’m sure will be much easier to attain than 20 at one time. So here we go… Good luck everyone.
I am using a plan I found on Men’s Health’s website.
Pullups have historically not been my friend, but with some hard work and dedication I can knock this out.
How many times have you seen “disaster footage” of people scrambling to get out of the way of a flood or stampede or who knows what? The ability to quickly pull up your body weight really is a matter of life and death! Do you remember the Katrina footage of all those helpless people struggling to get up to a rooftop? I need to be able to lift my body weight! So with that said, what exercises can I do to work my way up to a pull up? I see people talking about push ups (I love push ups), do those really work the right muscles? I need some guidance!
I hurt my wrist, badly. I can’t even bend it much or really hold on to things. Can’t do pushups to work on doing pullups. Does anyone know any good exercises that are easy on your wrist?
Thanks to the goalsetters in the “Ace the USMC Fitness Test” I’m on a new program here
I start Monday.
Yesterday I did 54 pushups. I’m still afraid of the pullup bar though. . .
Right now I can do one. I can remember doing 11 in a row. That was about 15 years and 30 pounds ago.
Well week one of the pullup periodization is working well, but it’s really aggravating an old shoulder injury. It’s amazing how 3 strict pullups is so much harder on one’s body than 6 quick ones. I can already feel improvement
