I have very curly medium lenght hair. I have always wanted to grow them longer, but at some point, they just stop growing and it even seems like they are getting shorter. Now I am trying to dedicate myself to grow healty long curly hair.
How to grow my curly hair long
How I did it: I have been growing my hair out for quite some time, and it has finally reached a considerable length. Basocally, i kept up with my normal hair routine and just waited and waited and waited. I didn't use any of those special long hair shampoos or conditioners, though now i am using an anti breakage system.
Lessons & tips: One tip is that if you want your hair to appear longer, don't use curl enhancing products. Also, when you get your hair trimmed ( you will need trims), ask the hair dresser for a "dusting" or only a half inch off.
Resources: Tresemme anti breakage shampoo and conditioner.

I’ve put my hair in a protective style and am continuing to moisturize it so that it won’t break off. The last time I set my hair was completely without heat. I usually set my hair under a hood dryer but I was tired after I rebraided some sections and just set my hair with rollers. It looks just like I set my hair under the dryer. I am going to keep my dryer so I can use it for deep conditioning, but I am limiting my use of heat, and it helps a lot.

The problem here isn’t myself; I’ve got the patience for it. The problem is dealing with old-fashioned parents in an old-fashioned community that is set against me doing this.
my hair looks so bad in it’s natural curls unless it’s really long.. so im growing it out to be able to look great in my natural hair :)

I used to hate my hair, but now that I can control it I love it! The market is finally coming out with some excellent products for curly hair…I have three favorites: Pantene Pro-V gel for curly hair. John Frieda Starlit Waves Wave-Enhancing Spray. And Garnier Fructis Curl Construct Mousse.
After ten years of research, these are the only three products that work for me, personally. They leave my curls defined and soft, not crunchy.

If I think of my hair as a garden or a plant that needs continual moisture, maybe I’ll help it to grow that way. I’ve been trying to grow my hair out long since April 1998 when I had surgery then and had to have some of my hair shaved off. I went natural in 2004 and am now wearing my hair in two-strand twists or an afro. Occasionally I will braid my hair and set the braids under the dryer with rollers. I have some MSM capsules that I decided to stop taking orally but I opened some of them last night and put some MSM in my braid spray and in some other hair products. I had a jheri curl when I was younger and my hair grew a great deal. I’m thinking it was because my hair constantly required moisture. If I keep the same practice and moisturize my hair, it should help.
I was born with incredibly curly hair. Most of my life, I couldn’t get it to grow and I ended up with a frizzy ball on the top of my head. It was horrible!!
About five years ago, a hairdresser overheard some guy’s rude comment about my hair and gave me the tips that changed my locks forever. Let me share them with you.
First, avoid any shampoo with Sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES). Yes, it is in almost everything! Honestly, this stuff strips your hair of all of the natural oils and leads to breakage.
Secondly, moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize several times per day. I was told that every time I put lotion on my hands, I should be sure to run some lotion through my hair as well. Honestly, though, I don’t do that. I carry a little spritz bottle of homemade leave-in conditioner and use that several times per day.
Finally, use a horsetail hair rinse. Horsetail has a high silica content as is great for strengthening hair (I use it on my nails, too).
My hair is actually much longer than it shows in the photo…it has finally reached my mid-back (just long enough for my little girl to reach up and yank it out)!
Good luck!
