purge my files

...or at least not get a headache…

One fun thought to remember: I’ve got to go out soon, so I have only about 1 hour to endure have fun.

...literally. I just now took some aspirin. :(

At least I made a tiny bit of progress this afternoon. :)

Wow, somehow just typing the above line eased my headache a tiny bit. :))

I need help from Tink to re-write these lyrics for a song to purge by. Help, Tink! :)

And I have mountains of financial paperwork to sort through. Over two years ago, before joining 43 Things, I started with the oldest, and was working my way forward in time. I didn’t get very far. :(

Today I’m planning to work my way from present-day stuff back through time to the oldest stuff.

I’ve also had an offer from someone to advise me on what I need to keep and what to toss. Good! Then I can write a new entry under this goal.

I have a fairly good filing system for all my paperwork, but I realised the other day that I just keep adding stuff to it without going back through to check what is no longer needed, and also I think I should try chnging the way I file my stuff to.

I plan to get this done next weekend.

I failed to take my own advice lately, and left the stacks I was trying to sort and purge out on the office floor, and they all ended up jumbled together in a big mess.

Yesterday I unjumbled the stacks, and contained them in file folders and boxes. Today is the day to work on purging. I finished one file so far today. Let’s see how far I get.

Another note to self before I get started again:
When in doubt, throw it out.

This is SO difficult for me and goes SO slowly that I really have to limit how much I do at any one time, and attempt to PUT ALL UNSORTED AND UNPURGED FILES AWAY AT THE END OF EACH DAY.

This week I’ve ended up with seven files that I’ve been going through, and they are strewn all over the floor of my office. All this clutter makes the sorting and purging even more difficult. I need to stop purging and clear the deck.

I started purging some REALLY REALLY OLD stuff from a couple file folders today. I can’t believe I still have this stuff. It dredges up SO MANY memories, and churns up a LOT of emotion.

...and purged one file folder.
