Integrated in another goal — 1 month ago
I shouldn’t have seperated this subgoal out – it is too closely integrated to other goals I have to mean anything. So out it goes.

Since i realised in order to being a proper choir member, i need to be able to read music properly. Google seems to provide a lot of resources where you could learn to read music for free!!! Also youtube seems to have quite a few posts from people who volunteered to make videos giving out lessons on this subject as well. So ships ahoy!

not as difficult as it may appear – but the key is to PRACTICE…....PRACTICE….....PRACTICE!!! Began learning to read music at abotu 8 years old with piano lessons. DID NOT enjoy that so I learned to play the flute in 6th grade – played all through high school and college (along with the piccolo) and still play today! IT IS SO WORTH IT and is KEY opening more doors as a musician.
I can read piano music, just real slow like. Its useless when I want to play an actual piece of music. So I wanna learn properly :)
Im gonna practice real hard!
But I say that about everything… and then do nothing.
:/
Oh well. I’ll try my hardest.

We had to learn to read music in primary school. Playing the recorder. It’s such a hard instrument to listen to. Especially when theres about 25 children all playing at once…
I also took up playing the cornet (and was in the orchestra at secondary school), and had private piano lessons, so reading music comes fairly easy to me. I got to grade 4 in my piano, theory and practical, but gave up the lessons as I didn’t see myself really going anywhere with it.
Now I just play for fun. No pressure involved thank you!
i’ve done this and it’s very satisfying. it’s relatively easy, and it opens up a lot of musical horizons

... at the same time. Surprisingly, it’s easier for me to do it all in one go than pick them apart. I don’t know why. But something about using my voice is helping me link the shapes of the notes on paper with the sounds they represent. And I play the guitar really…. slowly….

... to be able to read melodies and eventually write them. Like today, I was listening to “I’m Going Down” by Bruce Springsteen, and it’s so simple, but when I look at the music notation I don’t understand the rhythm. I can see the melody, I know about pitch and the lengths of notes, but seeing the words and notes together – I don’t quite see it linked together.
So – as ever, let’s play with it.

It may be a sign of how old I am, but I was taught to read music in elementary school.
