Buy a new digital camera

I just ordered a lovely camera from Amazon, so I’ll mark this as done when he arrives in the post next week.
He already has a name (Nissley-Day) and he’s pink :]
And yes, it’s a he.

It was just a cheapy camera (about £60) but it’s 10mp, which isn’t bad at all for the price and the memory card I bought with it only cost about £6 (compared to £20 I’d have paid at Argos) and will let me take up to 400 photos.
It’s not rechargable, but that makes life easier when I’m out about. I can’t plug a camera in to charge if it dies on a night out, but I can just whip out a couple of batteries and save the day.

I won’t be using Nissley-Day for anything too spectacular, just snapping the day to day and capturing all those gigs I go to, so that makes him perfect value and perfect for the job.

That’s how much my camera will be.
I’m giving up alcohol for the next few weeks to make sure I can afford it and proper just going minimise my spending so I can get it by early August.
I’m missing out on so many memories because I don’t have a camera and my phone being broken means I don’t even have a poor quality way of a taking pictures >.<

I plan to get one duty free at the airport when I leave for Bali.

It MUST have manual focus!! Gah! I take a lot of photos of fire twirling so I need a camera that has adjustable focus.

didn’t want to be buying yet another digital camera (this is my third in 2 years!) I needed to after dropping my camera while on vacation last month.

I liked the Canon PowerShot A590IS that I bought last and would have bought another, but unfortunately it looks like that model is being discontinued and the price has shot up around $100 (do people really collect brand-new digital cameras?!). I was looking for another Canon but then came upon some really good reviews for the Panasonic Lumix cameras. I got a DMC-LZ8 that’s 8 megapixel and has a 5X optical zoom for only $108, with free shipping.

I’m just starting to use it but so far it seems great. It’s a little thinner than my Canon but not so small that it’s hard to use. I like that the compartment for the SD chip is separate from the battery compartment- a feature that the Canon didn’t have. The only thing I’ve noticed so far that I don’t like is that you can’t use lithium batteries in this camera. I’m a great proponent of lithiums for digital camers, they lasted much longer in the Kodak & Canon cameras that I’ve had.

Now I just have to overcome the learning curve with yet another new brand and keep from destroying this one within 12 months!

To be fair, part of the reason I’m so hard on these little pocket digitals is that I carry them around constantly and use them in conditions (like rain and blowing dust) that they definitely aren’t made for. Even though I only had my Canon for about 11 months I took over 3000 photos with it!

Been given a whole load of extra shifts at work next week.
This means I can afford my camera in a couple of weeks.

I can afford him before Slam Dunk.
Which kinda sucks as he already has a name.

I want to get my lip pierced and book in for a tattoo.
The camera has to come second to that; as long as Siobhan has Karl, we’re okay :]

the digi cam i’ve always been obsessed with (since my old school days of working at black’s) was the Canon PowerShot S5 IS. sadly, it is discontinued now. which makes sense since i’ve been dreaming about it for years. haha. however, it does have a baby!

it is officially on my list of things i’m saving $ for & it is definitely something i will be getting before my travels!

That my detox just to retox plan is going to make it so I can have this camera :]

I ususally go out once a week, occasionally twice, and I spend, on average about £40.
Over five weeks, that means I’ve spent a maximum of £200 and have nothing to show for it except pizza boxes, panda eyes and the munchies.
So, by avoiding going out for the next four weeks, I’ll have enough money to buy the digital camera to record the carnage of that weekend in May.

What a brilliant reason to keep at that goal :]
Kill two birds with one stone!

Time to leave the old one behind. He’s getting on a bit and, unlike everything else I own, doesn’t even have a name.
I’ll probably keep him for ornamental and spare purposes (the original Jim the MP3 player can keep him company) but it’s definitely time to move on.

I’ve got my eye on the Fujilim Z20 in Tropical Green; the going rate’s about £100 for one of these so I’m going to save up so I can have it in time for Slam Dunk at the end of May.

I got my new camera today so I will start to take my pictures again. _{Pajodama is happy :D}
