knit a sock

Yeah, I finished the first sock! now a partner!

i picked up knitting this past summer on a long road trip. i started off with a baby bootie, then a scarf… and finally, a pair of socks for my best friend alicia… sure, they were supposed to be for christmas & its now two and a half months later… but, hey, i’m doing it… i am on the last bit of the second sock & the only thing stopping me now is the fact that i’ve misplaced my fifth kneedle to do the turn on the heel…

i’d attribute my success to a simple pattern, my perfectionism, & a love for following directions…. if you’d like to try the pattern i’m using or have questions, contact me! i’d love to help but only if you really want it… you’ve got to really want to do it!

I finished my first sock! Yea for me!

So ugly sock is coming along nicely. I can only work on it when I’m not at home, so it’s VERY slow going. I don’t want him to see it until it’s done. Well, it’s going to be a very tall sock, like up to the knee hopefully, and I just started the ribbing for the cuff. It’s going to be about a 4-5” cuff though, so it will still take some time. I’m hoping I can get to working on it soon ‘cause I was enjoying the K3P3 ribbing for a change of pace. :)

I’ve started my super secret sock for my dad. I originally was going to double strand 2 very contrasting yarns together, but when I swatched it, I didn’t like the fabric it gave me. It was too thick and wasn’t nearly as ugly as I hoped for. So, I just decided to go for it with the different yarns I bought and to just stripe it randomly. I’m doing them toe-up and I’m almost to the heel. I’ve kinda hit a wall ‘cause I’m nervous about that first heel. It’s a short row heel, so it won’t be too bad, but I’m nervous all the same. If I don’t finish this sock soon though, I’ll never get the second one done! I don’t want to fall into a single sock syndrome! lol!
