I am getting there. I go to weekly lessons and tend to find more short periods of time to do piano, plus I like my pieces I am working on so I am motivated. Piano really calms me down!
How I did it: Practice! Practice! Practice! I tend to simply play a piece once and then move onto the next one until I finish all the pieces I wanted to play that day. Either that or simply give up on the piece completely. That is NOT the way to do it. After gaining more patience, I started out playing the piece slow. I couldn't get a feel for the melody yet but after a while, I started to get the hang of it. After quickening my pace each playthrough (and not just once a day!) I began to master the piece and improve upon playing more challenging pieces. If I was stuck on a certain part, I would go back and play it until I stopped making mistakes.
Lessons & tips: Start out slow and quicken the pace one at a time. If you're stuck on a certain section, go over it until you stop making the same mistakes. Don't simply skip over it and hope to get it write the next time you play the piece.

I was basically “forced” to learn how to play the piano when I was five. It was fun at first but then when I got to the age of eleven or so, I began to dislike the piano with a passion. As a result, I stopped taking lessons. My mom still forces me to play the piano for 30 minutes every Saturday and Sunday but I’m not improving at all since I’m just playing piano pieces that she wants to hear and I really don’t like. So I’ve decided that I will work on playing more piano pieces that I enjoy no matter how hard or easy they are… eventually I’ll improve in playing the piano when I get to enjoying it once more. :D [[ Or at least, that’s the way I feel. ]]

when i was a child ,i was “forced” to learn piano. after playing for 7 years, i gave up for some reason.
but now i realize that playin’ piano is such a wonderful thing.. i now try to play as much as possible in my free time.
haha, i get addicted now.
good luck fellows :)
Music’s my life, as cheesy as that may be.
I played clarinet in 4th grade (after almost getting a 100% on my grade when we were learning the recorder, haha. I’m still proud. :P) and then got a guitar in 5th, viola in 6th, saxophone in 7th, and then in 9th I got my keyboard… I’m in 11th now and recently got a new violin for Christmas. :D
So, I’ve been teaching myself piano for two years now, and I’m gonna keep playing for as long as possible… This will probably be a never-ending goal.
Oh, and the weird thing is, is that my taste in music ranges from pop-rock/pop-punk to a little hardcore punk and some reggae thrown in there. I listen to almost no music with piano/violin in it, haha.
Right now, I am getting so much better at playing the piano. I started to learn the “Minute Waltz” (also known as Petit Chien), composed by Chopin. It’s very fast (3/4 beat at about 280 bpm). I think that the only thing that’s somewhat easy about playing it is that I have some experience (I used to play the accordion! But that’s sort of a secret :] ) Well, I can get past most of the first part, but that’s it (for now!)
