spend more time on my art

Great goal…I love art I do believe myself to be creative and like to do a few things art wise however I need to find the time and finish a few incomplete projects :)

I’ve been taking art classes for a while now and I’ve actually finished a few drawings and paintings. I’m still going to the classes and I’m not planning to stop anytime soon.

We’re actually going to have an exhibit on 26 Oct. 3 of the pieces I finish this year will be put up, but it’s more of a social event than anything else. Wish me luck!!!

lately i’ve spent a lot more time on my photography and sketches

I dug out one of my many visual diaries last night and decided to start carrying it around with me… art needs to consume you which means I need to be ever creating… !! Experimented with my oil pastels last night and a new design… quite pleased :)

My Mum uses pastel, my Nanna used oil paints, my sister uses charcoal/pencil and my boyfriends step-dad uses oil and various mediums for sculpture… I’ve stuck with oil pastels and pastel pencil in the past but I want to try something new… like a big chunky oil paint!!

My boyfriends step-Dad is an Artist (Oil & Sculpture) and his stuff is really great – totally different from Mum’s but still good stuff and I have been re-inspired. I need to re-focus… I know I can do this, I know I was given a gift that needs to be developed but I haven’t held a pencil or a paintbrush since Joel left… Need to work on this problem.

I’ve always loved painting, doodling, and even now coloring. Since having children, I have let go of a lot of the hobbies which use to take up much of my time and served as an outlet for emotions and frustration.

I started painting again, and found that people enjoyed my paintings. Now I’m selling them! I don’t need to work (I’m a stay-at-home-mom) but I’m thankful I’m able to bring in extra money due to a hobby I enjoy!

I got my claws on a whole stack of E-books to do with anime and manga drawing, which I’m digging into with a vengeance. Perhaps I’ll be posting some bishoujo and bishounen next week :)

I’m setting aside 2 hours a day to paint, draw, mess about with music and generally explore creative things – my ps2 and anime dvd’s need to take a back seat for a wee while.

I’ve been spending a bit more time being arty/creative/me… it feels good :) Hopefully I’ll find a good balance between work and art soon.
