I was in a band all through high school. After we all graduated a couple members left. Now it’s just three guys recording some songs. I would really like to start a career at a record company or something related to that.
How to work for a record label
How I did it: It all happened by accident, I started just working one day a week through a friend, and now I work full time and have quite a lot of responsibilty. I'm not an expert yet but I'm learning so much and growing in confidence.
Lessons & tips: Never say 'no' to a task, or say you can't do it. Ask for help, or just learn how.
Resources: none.

My love for music is still there, and if someone came up to me right now and offered me a job within the industry, I’d jump. But right now I need to be a little more stable and focus on a career. Which is what I’m doing – and a label isn’t it right now, unfortunately…
I love music and it does wonders for me. I play guitar and sing and write songs, but before I try to get signed by a label, I want to get an internship and.or work at one. Could anyone help me in this endeavor? Besides sending emails to addresses listed on websites, I have nowhere else to turn.
I live in Springfield but go to school in Chicago, what indie/rock labels are there in Chicago that I might have missed?
My favorite labels, though, would probably be Sub Pop, Merge, Saddle Creek, Arts & Crafts, Kill Rock Stars, etc…
This is something I think that every musician should have the privilidge of gaining experience in. I would love to.
I’d love to work in the Creative/Art department of a record label. I’m also interested in pursuing a career in music video direction.
I play guitar, I sing, and I’m a chick. I’m a decent songwriter. Maybe I should get famous and do that? Am I talented enough?
I don’t know. I don’t think so. I’d rather help behind the scenes.
I think.
Either way, music is incredible. Music is everything, music is life, music will be my career and my career will be what I want to do so I’ll be happy for the rest of my life. Which is the perfect plan. I need to do this ((see entry about Chicago))
