Be debt-free by age 27

Finally! 20 months ago

I’ve dreamed of this day, and then with little fanfare my wife and I sat down for our last finincial meeting with balances on our credit cards. We paid the balances off, and then some, and (aside from a mortgage some day) will never again have to stress over being in debt. We are now a part of the “under 30 with no debt” minority statistic, and it feels great!!

A pat on the back to me and my wife, for working hard, spending thriftily, and maintaining a strong conciousness when it comes to our money. We did it. We PAID OFF ALL OUR DEBT!! YEAH!!

DEBT FREE AND FEELING GREAT!!! 20 months ago

We did it!!! My hubbie and I just sat down for a financial meeting and PAID OFF ALL the money we owed credit cards and family members – and we are debt free at age 26.5! We have no student loans, no credit card debt, and no ongoing stress about money… and we’re NOT going back to that place. From here on out, it’s only spending what we’ve got, saving what we can, and the ONLY debt we’ll take on will be a mortgage (with a low low low interest rate because we CAN)! Ah this feels so good – gotta celebrate with some ice cream bars! xoxo Honey!

THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN BABY!!! 23 months ago

We’re down to $1100, and it will be even less by the end of this month. AND we have a windfall coming from an extra short-term job, so I really feel like this can be paid off by the end of FEBRUARY, six months before my 27th birthday! FANTASTIC! It’s going to feel soooo good.

Major payout 2 years ago

Wow! Just sent $4400 to debt payment, and am now down to $1600, which will probably be more like $1400 after Christmas gifts. There are eight months before my husband’s 27th birthday (when he would like this paid off), so that’s payments of $175 per month – totally do-able now that we’re in a cheaper apartment!!!

We also just bought a bed, though, and are now making payments on that… will have to decide if this is factored into our feeling of being “in debt…”

Exciting stuff – this is the lowest debt we’ve had in YEARS!

On the way... 2 years ago

The debt is down to $6,000, with 0% interest. And I’ll be 26 in two-ish months, so there’s 14 months to pay it off to meet this deadline. That’s payments of $430 per month, or a few larger windfall payments… this is going to be a challenge!
