decorate cakes

I found a community education class that teaches the Wilton method—classes start mid june, I think. I’m excited! : )

i did it at a cake decorating party, and it was fun. it happened to be my moms birthday weekend, so i wrote here name on it and gave it to her as a surprise.

I made these “cupcakes” for a shower for a friend of mine. Still refining my fondant technique. I now know why fondant cakes cost so much money. The labor is amazing. I had 21 cupcakes to cover and it took hours. But everyone loved them and it was worth it.

I made this cake for a friend of mine’s Beijo party this weekend. I was focusing on taste more than appearance, but it came out ok I think.

I made this engagement cake for a friend of mine. My husband helped me decorate it and we were very pleased with the results. I was even asked if I would do someone’s wedding cake (very small). I told her to think about it, as I’m not a pro.

well am decorating them, dont know as much yet as i would like to know. But enough to bring a smile on peoples faces when i geive them as a present.

It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun!
You do get sick of cake and icing after a course, though.

I’ve finished Course I of the Wilton Cake Decorating classes, and shall now be moving onto Course II in two weeks from now. I guess I’m sort of glad that it will be the same teacher as I had in Course I. Nobody else, though, who signed up for the class shall be moving on with me. For that I’m a little glad, as well. Well, maybe not. Eh… what does it matter? Why am I even talking about this?

My teacher is always praising me for some reason. She thinks I’m better than her at baking, frosting, and decorating cakes! She said she could write me out a recommendation sometime so that I could get a job at a bakery. I guess I’ll consider it; I do, after all, need to start thinking about getting a job. I felt a little uncomfortable, though, the way everybody at my class was always complimenting me, and assuming that I’m perfect at everything. It made me even more shy than I already am in the first place, and I had to just pretend that I couldn’t hear what they were saying. Besides that, I could feel myself sweat and go red in the face whenever I was the subject of their talk. I guess this is one reason why I’m glad there will be new people at my next class.

Well, to further myself in this occupation, I signed up for the Wilton Cake Decorating classes at Joann’s. I’m in Course I, and have, so far, been to two classes (two more remain). For some reason, I absolutely love going there. Well, anyway, I plan on taking Course II and Course III the next following months. (I hope I have the same teacher.) If ever I decorate a cake which I can claim to be proud of, I shall post a picture of it here.

MMM… cake’s so good!

I am currently an Accountant but I was just recently watching the cooking channel on tv and realized that I have a great big interest in decorating cakes! I have only done a couple of anniversary cakes in my entire life but now I am very serious in learning how to decorate cakes (possibly as a career). This may sound crazy but I think I’m through with Accounting. I need some excitement in my life. I just don’t know were to take a class???
