I have two herb pots so I have no excuse for not doing this
How I did it: I'm trying to care for BASIL indoors in the A/C (because I don't have a yard). I believe it gets enough direct sunlight, but it wilts a little so far. But then, it is also growing noticeably taller, so I think its working. I've snipped fresh basil from the pot sparingly about 4 or 5 times already, too.
Lessons & tips: If tending indoors, feel the dirt regularly to keep it watered well AND make sure it gets plenty of direct sunlight near a window.
Resources: I grabbed whatever main brand of potter's dirt they were pushing at the local hardware store and dropped it into a flower pot large enough that gave it some room to grow.

ceesmiles is getting ready to run another 5K race; 5K has become usual run
basil, rosemary, sage, thyme and lemongrass growing. I also grew lettuce, which does not count as a herb, but it meant that when I wanted to use my herbs to make a vinagrette, I had something to serve with the herbs ;-)
I really like rosemary and garlic potatoes and I use rosemary in soups, like potato soup, to give it extra flavor.
I did have to let my herbs go, but I hope to get more this summer.
I’ve got herbs exploding everywhere. Now I need to figure out what to do with all the extras? Pesto anyone?
