Learn to love vegetables and fruit...or at least eat the damn things!

I don’t like vegetables. They’re disgusting! I HATE them, and that’s that. I’m not going to eat them. Every once in a while I try something to see if I’ll like it or if I have changed my opinions about it, but I just don’t like them, and this goal is pointless. It’s going to sit on my list for years and years and stare at me unless I get rid of it, so that’s what I’m doing.

Goodbye cruel and evil goal!

This goal isn't doing so well 17 months ago

I think I’ve gotten discouraged and not wanted to try new things, because I thought I’d try stuff now and think it was wonderful. Most stuff still doesn’t taste good to me though. I did try some spinach artichoke dip and some broccoli cheese soup. They were both ok, but not things I would particularly pick myself. I’ll also eat cauliflower, but only if it’s fried, so that kinda defeats the purpose.

I may have to give up on this goal.

I haven't done much with this goal 22 months ago

We went to a friend’s for dinner over the weekend, and they made some vegetables (green beans, some kind of white green bean looking beans, carrots, and cranberries with some kind of sauce). I tried everything, except a cranberry, even green beans, which literally make me gag usually. I still didn’t want to go out and eat them myself, but they weren’t horrible. The texture is really weird though.

Grape Juice 2 years ago

I’ve started drinking grape juice, and it’s really yummy. And while I’m not actually eating the fruit, drinking the juice is good too, so I’m happy about that.

Asparagus 2 years ago

I tried some asparagus last night, and SURPRISE!!!! I didn’t like it. It was a lot different than I expected. I thought it would be soft and kinda mushy, but it was hard and a little crunchy. It wasn’t as disgusting as turnip greens, but I still wouldn’t willingly choose to eat it if given the choice.

Turnip Greens 2 years ago

Today, David got some turnip greens for lunch, and asked if I wanted to try some, since he knows about this goal. I said no. But then I kept thinking aobut how I have to try them, because I’ll never get anywhere always saying no. So, I tried them, and…....YUCK!!! They tasted like green beans, and green beans make me want to barf. I’m not kidding either. Green beans make me gag; I can’t stand them at all!

But I did try it. I really am hoping that I’ll find some new things I like, but so far, no luck! :(

I think maybe 2 years ago

this should have been called try new things instead.

David bought some grapes yesterday, and SHOCK I actually got to eat some too!

I’ve tried coffee and a mocha latte, and I already know I don’t like them. Today David got a plain ole latte, and it was even nastier than the previous two beverages!! But I DID try it! Go me!!

It's not much 2 years ago

but I ate some grapes at lunch today. I already knew I liked grapes, although until I went to The Evil Spa, I had never actually tried red grapes before. It just never occurred to me that if I like green grapes, why not eat red ones? I like green apples but not red apples, so maybe I just associated the two and figured if I don’t like red apples, I won’t like red grapes. They taste almost the exact same as green ones, only a little different.

I like grapes pretty well; I just have to actually buy them AND eat them BEFORE David eats them all!

Well... 2 years ago

last night I tried a teeny tiny bite of a banana. It was not very good. I really think a lot of my problem is all in my head though. In my head I am saying ewww, gross, this is so nasty, so that’s what I think when I eat it too. Bananas really do have a weird texture though.

I have to find some way to make myself stop thinking everything is nasty before I even try it!

The only fruits and vegetables I eat are 2 years ago

potatoes and okra. And I only like okra fried, so really all the healthy is gone. I do eat salad, but I won’t eat lettuce on anything else…tacos, sandwiches, burgers…none of that. I will eat a little fried cauliflower, but again…fried, all the healthy is gone, so it doesn’t really matter.

Sometimes I think maybe a big part of my problem is all in my head. I just can’t bring myself to put that stuff in my mouth.

And I don’t eat fruit much either. I like apples, strawberries, and grapes. I think those are the only ones. Everytime I buy them though, my husband eats them all up before I ever get any. The same thing happens to all the ice cream too!

I know it sounds really weird and crazy, but I’m always jealous of people who eat all the good fruits and vegetables. I always think…man, I wanna be cool like that!
