send more cards

My brother texted one day: “Do you know when my anniversary is?”. I thought, haha… he’s going to get in trouble. A few hours later, his wife messaged me, “Do you know when my anniversary is?”. Apparently, without my Mom, my family is just awful at remembering birthdays and anniversaries. As for me, I tend to buy cards and then forget to send them.

I have 4 neices and nephews that I only see once a year. Knowing that I can’t see them often, one of my “auntly duties” are sending cards on special occassions! And I am sure my friends and brothers would appreciate a little cheer here and there.

If I am real ambitious, I will make cards (er, I know how, after all). But I will start little: collecting everyone’s birthday.

I am the absolute WORST at sending birthday cards and thank you cards. It’s really embarrassing, it makes me feel like a terrible friend/relative, especially when everyone is so good at sending me cards. This year I’m going to really try to be on top of crap like that. I’m going to have everyone’s birthday card ready to go weeks before their birthday, so all I need to do is drop it in the mailbox a few days before. Maybe then they won’t think I’m such a self-involved jerk.

I sent a card to my brother this week with $50 in it so he could go have one last fun trip with his friends before he graduates from college. He was so surprised and I think very grateful.

I originally had send birthday cards as a goal, but have since widened my horizons after I realized cards are good for any ocassion (or no ocassion). I’m starting with Valentine’s cards!

To two friends who are having a rough time a small attempt to cheer them up

to admit that I am useless at remembering to send cards.

Apart from birthdays I never remember my friends anniversaries, their kids birthdays, etc etc

I blame my parents :-P as they’ve never celebrated their anniversary or gave each other cards so to me its never been important but I realise that for others it is and it’s nice to give something and I aim to make more effort….

So today I’m sending a (belated) happy anniversay card to a friend and a thank you card to my ma.
