I just did this a few weeks ago and can’t wait to go back. I went to the Puericultorio Perez Arranibar in Lima. It is a really beautiful orphanage. the grounds overlook the Pacific ocean and the building are beautiful old colonial style. There are 700 kids there from 0-17. I worked with the babies and it was amazing! The staff were happy for the help and the kids were so excited to have someone hold them and pay attention. There is one staff member for 5 babies and it just isn’t enough! It was really nice and safe and much cheaper than going through a volunteer organization. I just showed up and the volunteer coordinator Rosa was kind and gracious and it was no problem. I can hardly wait to go back!
