How to save €1000
How I did it: I started by cutting back on virtually all luxuries I noticed myself spending money on. I banned myself completely from eating out, going to cafes, buying books, alcohol, stationery, clothes and shoes for at least a month. I tried to ban myself from chocolate but I couldn't stick to it.
I had lots of bad habits, and this helped get rid of them a little bit. It was tough at first because I felt like I was depriving myself of stuff and I didn't like the idea of going without these things forever. But I got used to it.
After a while I started slipping back into some old habits (like buying books and alcohol) but not others (like buying lunch at work).
This still left me with enough room in my budget to save a little bit, so I set up an online savings account and transferred some money in each month.
Then, today I was reimbursed for a work trip I made in March, and that made up the rest of the 1000 euros!

This forum seems to be filled with people who prioritize saving and think people who eat in restaurants and so forth are crazy, so it gets you in the right mindset.
