Too bad everyday can’t be like Memorial Day. I couldn’t have asked for a better day for perfect weather! It was sunny all day in the low 80’s with a awesome summer breeze.
My son Benjamin and I were outside practically all day if not at the park we were either socializing in our own backyard or out walking the neighborhoods passing out Avon brochures:) I must have talked to almost 20 different people in one day who were either out gardening, barbequing or at the park with their children. I never realized how dependent on the weather you can be when you’re self-employed (or working on it). But whether rain or shine we have to put ourselves out there.
On that note I also have to mention that just last Friday when it was raining I was dropping off an order and passing out brochures in that neighborhood. No sooner do I park my car in a seemingly logical place on the side of the street right before I get a $50 parking ticket! How ironic – it felt like my purpose for recruiting new Avon customers and representatives was just defeated.
But more importantly I also find it a lesson to learn that when you’re running your own business you can’t afford to think that way or let anything stop you from being successful, especially if you have to survive on our own with a child and if that’s what you want to do badly enough. So heads up to all of you out there who are trying to make it! Good work doesn’t go unnoticed.
