so good! 3 months ago

i’ve been doing so good : ) I am trying to only use nicer nail polish so it doesn’t chip and isn’t as tempting to peel off. yesterday i chipped a lot of polish off though and broke a nail (bye bye pretty and long) but as soon as i got home i cut, filed, and repainted! since they’re short i went with electric blue. super fun

i’m sick of having chipped, yucky nails. keeping them “nice looking” is such a small thing, but i feel as though it makes a girl look just that much more polished. right now my nails are long and pink – since saturday! i want to see how long i can go before i begin to peel them all off.

I had started keeping my hands groomed, but only two days before my target goal, I slipped and bit my whole fingers off!!

I’ve discovered that keeping my hands manicured helps me not to bite them, plus they look nicer ;) So I —again— will set this goal to 21 days of keeping them groomed and manicured.

People notice if you keep your nails nice! :)

Do it yourself! 2 years ago

There’s quick and there’s right. Usually I’m lazy and I just do it quick, but it’s not that hard. You make an investment for the nail kit, polish remover and polish and you just do it. I do it every week. Especially pedicures – I give myself those once every three or four weeks and in THAT situation, I opt for doing it right and I put in the time. Plus, whenever you do go and get it done at a salon, it’s like a nice little treat. Hell, I’m in college and I can find time to do this. Get a footbath, get pumice, get the polish an go for it!

I wanna go for regular manicures and pedicures... 3 years ago

...right after I curb my nail-biting habit, of course. So that’s two goals in one!

Just One Obstacle 3 years ago

The only, and I mean ONLY thing between me and consistently manicured nails is money. M O N E Y. Because, how hard is it to walk in to a nail salon, sit in a cushy, vibrating padded chair zoning out on old issues of InStyle while someone pampers your feet? The only possible negative part of the entire experience is the effort I put forth in making sure I don’t end up in the the pervy old Vietnamese guy’s chair. Well, that and wondering what shit is being talked about me while the female manicurists jabber loudly and laugh while looking right at me (they even pointed once). Did I tip enough last time? Are my weak nails that pitiful? How can I make more money so I can have my nails done at a real spa where the clientele aren’t mocked in a foreign language??

But I digress. So all it takes is $100 a month to accomplish this goal. Unfortunately, I do not have the extra 100 beans right now, trying to start a new biz has been tough on the beauty budget. Until then, I will try to do a better than half-ass job on myself. Although having nice nails is a frivolous goal to have, one just doesn’t look polished without them.

Clipped My Nails Yesterday 3 years ago

But haven’t filed them yet. They are sharp as razors and I’ve scratched my face pretty good on accident. Let this be a lesson on the pitfalls of doing a half-ass job.
