No Bread 4 months ago

07/17/09:
This will be perhaps my most challenging goal because I LOVE bread. Ever since I was a baby and could finally eat solid food, I ate bread. White bread or whole wheat, I love them both. I don’t discriminate. I could honestly live on bread alone and be very satisfied. But like most things that brings temporary pleasure, it’s also bad. It’s bad for my skin and makes me gain weight.
So, I will try to give up ALL bread and most other carbs (i.e. muffins, cookies, crackers, etc.) Let’s see how long I can last. This should be interesting.

Trying to lose the last 10 pounds. I excercise and eat fairly well but I can’t lose the pounds anymore. I think it is because of my carb addiction. So I want to give up eating carbs and see what happens. I hope for the best. :)

I’m trying to change up my diet to only allow good crusty breads on Sunday, otherwise, going for a healthy low-carb and low-fat diet. Lots of lean proteins, fruits, and veggies.

It would just be better all around but bread is so tasty…

Yeah, well worth it. The benefits I’ve seen so far are:

Weight loss, when combined w/fewer calories and exercise (35 pounds lost over the last few years).

No more heartburn. Was needing to chew Tums if I ever woke up in the middle of the night; no more.

Much less acne. In fact, if I get a zit, it’s almost certainly a sign that I’ve been slipping.

No more mid-afternoon droops. A good lunch, a light snack, and I’m still not falling over mid-afternoon. Except for times like this week, after a pizza lunch. Bleh.

Better sleep/more energy. I now wake up ready to go, and unless I go too low on calories, can keep going throughout the day. Much better than before.

Yeah, very much worth it.
