How to do a tandem skydive.
How I did it: My brother was visiting with a friend from Chicago and they wanted to go skydiving. The night before they were supposed to go, his friend chickened out and I boldly announced that I would go. The next morning there I was being suited up to jump! The beauty of tandem is you don't have to go through any training and obviously most of the responsibility is on your "tandem master" (the person attached to your back with the parachute). I can't remember how much it cost, but my guy was really nice. We went up to 11,000 feet. They yell, "Are you ready to skydive???" and you yell back "HELL YEAH" and then you jump!
Lessons & tips: If you have contacts wear them instead of glasses. When I jumped the wind pressure blew my goggles and therefore glasses askew and I spent most of the 11,000 feet drop trying to adjust them back so I could see. As a result I missed most of the view of my free fall (which only lasts a few seconds).
Resources: DON'T read the Skydiving magazines in the lobby until AFTER you have jumped. They are filled with horror stories.
ALSO, definitely pay to have your jumped video'd. Proof that you did it for bragging rights later!
