It never seems to work,  — 7 months ago

when I have the money, it either is earmarked for someone else (usually it’s their money) or I’m broke. This is what happens when you work every now and then and not regularly!

I should sell stuff on ebay or something.

change of venue  — 8 months ago

I’ve decided to change from this to Jenn’s Fund microloans through Kiva.org

Which is closer to my original intent.

43 Loans is out of the question. How about one?

I'm giving up on this...  — 9 months ago

because I haven’t done anything about it since adding it to my list of 43things and organising an actual team to fund 43 microloans when I haven’t even financed one myself doesn’t seem right.

My goal to offer someone a loan on the Kiva site remains. I keep telling myself I need to this but don’t feel ready for it yet as I have some debt issues to take care of. I know I’ve said that $25.00 isn’t such a big amount considering what I fritter away. As of now I’m giving myself until 25 December 2007 to do so, after all the money is generally paid back and can be used to fund someone else.

More loans!  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I now have 15 going and one that has been paid back. Almost half of those are from the money that my friend gve me for working on her blog. Kiva makes it really easy to find people in need…

Like Des, I’m debating doing 43 microloans, although I may wait until I get closer to that goal before I take it on.

Another two  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I got a notice that one of my loans from two weeks ago was disbursed, so I went to the site to check on my loans. Of course, then I ran across a couple of people in need of loans who I really liked, so I picked up another two loans.

Even though I’m trying to be mindful of my budget right now, this is something I don’t mind spending my money on, because I figure in most cases I’ll get the money back eventually. It’s an affordable kind of charity. Eventually I would like to add the goal fund 43 microloans through kiva.org, but it’s so far away that I’ll wait a while to add it. I only have 8 loans right now.

Two more  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I decided I wanted to make another loan, to “diversify” my portfolio – I wanted to add a new country and make at least one loan to a male, out of principle. I found two potential entrepreneurs and couldn’t decided between them, so I funded them both: Julio and Francis. It seems that loans to men get funded more slowly, so please consider checking them out if you’re looking for someone to finance.

    12 loans done  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I have set up a further 4 loans which brings my total to 12 loans which is the equivalent of 1 a month for 12 months.

    8 people  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I have now sponsered 8 people in total on Kiva. It’s a great feeling. I just need to sponser another 4 and I will consider this goal complete

She's on her way  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

Her loan has been disbursed and she is well on her way to making some money to support her family in her creativity. I am so happy to have been a part of it. I will come back to do it again once I get the time…

    Thanks for starting this goal!!
