mytime09 is workin but so goin to church at lunch:)
I am tired of my job…i love it but i feel like i can be doing more and definately earning more. so i will from now on be searching for a better job.
How I did it: Well, I really started from nothing. I was working at Wal-Mart, slinging frozen food third shift. I had some tech knowledge but not a whole lot. So I started searching for something better. Craigslist, CAreer Builder, the Paper. I didn't let any avenue go to waste. I applied for every job I could find.
Eventually I stumbled on a job that was perfect, appled and got hired. I spent nearly two years at that job, learning everything I could. Anytime someone did something I couldn't do, I tried to learn it. Eventually, with some experience, I started the process again, hunting for a job anywhere I could.
For years I thought there was some secret to finding a better job, but the truth is, sometimes you just persevere. I know it osunds pretty cliche, but once you step up a bit, take stock and rest before leaping again.
Oh, and dress well for the interview, research the company and tell them how great they sound.
Lessons & tips: 1) If you are at the bottom, the top looks far away. But the next rung is pretty close.
2) Sometimes you have to sweep floors to own buildings. That is, everyone starts somewhere, don't be upset to spend a year at the bottom.
3)Always be on the look out for opportunities, and leave no avenue unchecked. It wasn't fate or magic, though it may seems so, but a constant attention to want ads that brought me to this job.
Resources: Some nice clothes, and Want Ads. And my own two feet.

I seriously need t find a new job now, the hours are far too much, the pay is less than impressive, a few of the people are unbearably rude and nasty… AAAGGGRRRHH!!
OK>>> ACTION PLAN!!!
-Update and circulate current C.V
- Ring up previous companies who offered interviews.
- Job centre? Though its always proved fruitless.
I dont think it’ll be that hard for any job t be better than the one I have at the present, Im far from picky at this stage.
I have to get used to being up at six in the morning but it pays decent, is on campus, and gives me office experience which will be applicable for future jobs (I’m a student aid in the admin offices of the library of my college).
I get to make copious amounts of coffee.
And I’ll have money to take out my love.

It’s a closer, cheaper commute but still in the city which I prefer! About 8.5% salary increase which more than makes up for the money I was making at the part-time job I just gave notice to! It’s a nicer space, the people seem much nicer (than my current bosses), it has better benefits and more vacation time and days off. It’s also only 9-5, which are the same hours I’ve been working. I’m just glad it’s not more hours. So this is much better! I can thank my nasty employers for pushing me out and for annoying good customers who offered my co-worker to pass our resumes on and for my co-worker and part-time job supervisor for putting in fabulous recommendations for me! On top of that, I inspired two more co-workers to start looking for new work. Plus, they just pissed off a contract worker who just left! Anyway, I’m really happy about this. Things really do happen when you least expect them! Good luck to everyone else with this goal. Trust me, if I can do this, so can you. Just accept help if it’s there.
I haven’t heard back from the other one yet.
I went on a lunchtime interview for a GOOD job at a GOOD company. My co-worker got me the interview. It went very well and the interviewer already asked for my references and was talking like the job is mine. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I currently work as a help desk tech. for a decent sized company. I know what you’re thinking, “You like sitting on the phone for hours with people?”
Well aside from doing that occasionally, I get to do a TON of hands on things everyday at work. The pay is double what I was making & I absolutely love it!
I wrote a coverletter to go with my newly revised resume for my co-worker to submit to companies on her vacation time. We also finished revising hers.
Other good news is that I got responses to my resumes I have posted on Monster and Hotjobs. One is a recruiter I need to call next week because she left for Christmas break. She’s “very interested” in speaking with me. I know not to get my hopes up too much with these recruiters, but at least it was a call back.
Another was a company that e-mailed me for a temp-perm, minimum three month project. I’m not interested in temping, at least not now, but it’s nice that the interest is there.
