My love & I stargaze on his rooftop all of the time. It is safe to say that I can check this one off, too! It has become custom…

Spent some time Saturday night (the night before Christmas Eve) floating on my back in a swimming pool at Marcoola stargazing. Saw only one shooting star. The night sky was beautiful though, very relaxing to do this while floating. The previous week’s stress just melted away.
Must do this more often.
Clovergirl wonders how long can you call yourself a newlywed?
When I was in primary school we went on a 4wd trip to the Simpson Desert (right out in the middle of Australia). I remember one night lying on our backs in the sand and looking at the stars and seeing so many shooting stars we lost count!
Beautiful!
If you’re too close to the bright lights of the city, you won’t see as many because of the light pollution.
I used to lay on my trampoline every night and look at the stars. Its amazing how many shooting stars you’ll see if you stare long enough
Me and my boyfriend sat in his lovely little convertible one night and watched for shooting stars. It was bliss.
I’ve been working on a literary project ALL bloody day-leaning over my words like a Mother Hen-so I am on my way out to my yard to lay in the grass and stargaze. Not expecting anything shooting (other than the kink in my neck), but I am anticipating some serenity and hopefully I won’t zonk out on the lawn! ;>
I completed this goal last night by fluke.
I had just gotten home via Police escort, my truck had died, and I thought for sure I was going to be arrested, I was dropped off and home only for me to find that my keys were lost, so out on my back porch I sat staring at the sky. I listened to the wolves howl and thought about all that happened…
My friend has betrayed me, even though he has known me for years, he throws my words to the wind when I tell him that his girlfriend has been stealing from my family and friends.
How my brother hates me, and does not care what his actions display to our mother or I; just earlier that night I intervened a fight that would have gotten him injured or more likely at that time killed. His only way to show affection is to tell me that I am scum and to go to hell.
Low and behold I leave him there and make my way home to sit with my thoughts, and that is where I meet the police. After looking the part of a torn punching bag, and answer all their questions, my truck’s engine locked up and I had to push the damned heavy thing off the deserted road, to a gas station.
The police must have taken pity on a guy like me, they helped me get the truck over the curb and parked; then, told me that in my current state of things, referring to then asking me how my night was going, escorted me home…<<<
sitting there on that wooden porch in the pale moon light, the first thing I wish for and murmur softly to my self, a shooting star cuts through the sky like a falling tear.
That is where I found my small piece of clarity…
Saturday night, a few of us were at a cottage for our Steubenville retreat. We had a nice bonfire, and around 1030ish, Roxanne, Joe and I walked down to the dock and just lied on the slanted part of the dock looking up at the stars for at least an hour. It was gorgeous. Everytime there was a shooting star, one of us would go “Did you see it ?!” and we would just nod our heads and continue in our beautiful silence. It was awesome.
In mid to late August, you can see the Perseids meteor shower. You have to go out late at night, like midnight or so (central standard time- I’m in Texas), and you should get as far away from the city lights as possible. It is amazing. Sometimes you can see them closer to the city lights, but it’s best far away.
